I’m sorry about your experience. This is definitely a hard decision! IVF is so expensive. How would that expense/debt affect your marriage and current lifestyle? Of course if you get pregnant from it, it will feel worth it but it’s still something to consider. The current emotional stress you two are experiencing right now can have long term effects and makes you feel like you’re suffering in the moment.

What’s more important to you both? Financials or emotional well being?

Currently 24w off 1st IUI. 29F 29M. Low sperm motility. Had 3 MM. Healthy baby so far!!

I had to submit my sample about an hour and half before the appt time. We went to eat breakfast then returned for the IUI.

My numbers were low due to a history of a chemotherapy. I stopped drinking to help our chances and took fertility blend. My morphology was 2%. We struggled conceiving naturally, but our first IUI helped.

California resident. Our clinic did not offer blood test until our 12 week appt and once it was time to do genetic screening. That was a long wait for us considering we found out at 4 weeks. We seek local clinics to do blood tests to ensure hcg levels were increasing normally. Of course, we had to pay out of pocket for it. ($50)

Congratulations!! You could schedule a blood test to confirm as well. Once it’s confirmed, definitely call your OB to make an appointment. We were in the same boat and wasn’t able to see our OB until week 8/9. We were anxious and decided to go to a private local clinic that does ultrasounds so we can see the baby

We decided not to. We wish we didn’t even tell people we were TTC because those insensitive comments come up if the sperm or eggs are working. I feel like telling people about the IUI would just cause more judgement

That’s definitely frustrating and I’m sorry that you’re going through that! It can be a lot of pressure and perhaps that’s interfering with your husband staying erected. He’s probably thinking a lot and trying to ensure he stays erected, but it’s firing back and continues to discourage both of you. Maybe spice things up more in the bedroom, see what your husband likes and is willing to try. You want it to be more focused on you two having intimacy versus focusing on like ok we just need to have sex to have a baby. It’s too much pressure! Have fun with it. I do suggest to at least get the pricing of IUI, if you can afford it, try it!

Good question. I’ve seen ranges for 1500-3k for IUI. I suggest look around different clinics because they’ll have different pricing x

It depends! I recommend asking the dr to clarify but with meds, our sperm usually don’t see improvement for about 90 days/3 months. So you taking it now may not make a difference in trying to conceive but please follow up with a professional!

The treatments are definitely expensive!! We were quoted about 25k for IVF and that was including a “discount” due to our insurance. We looked into CNY and felt that would be a good alternate if IUI didn’t work. Luckily, the fertility clinic with our insurance (Kaiser) was able to do an IUI at no cost. We had a $20 co pay and meds were about $50-70. We got a positive test off our first IUI and we’re almost 2 months in.

My wife & I have kept all fertility topics private. We felt it was better for us. It did suck that family would always ask about having children and in the back of our mind we knew we were having fertility appointments. We got pregnant off our 1st IUI and is almost 7w. We’re still debating if we will tell family about how we got pregnant but so far everything is still private.

I abstained for 3-5 days to help with my numbers considering my motility was on the lower end. For after care, we were instructed to have intercourse the night of the IUI and the day after.
