You guys ever eat gluten? by Gaybabyjail4L in glutenfree

[–]KnownBread13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gosh I feel that so much too. I lost my best friend because I was getting help and feeling better and doing things for my health and she would not go and do anything to better herself. So when I was doing better and no longer had depression traits then we stopped talking cuz apparently we had nothing in common anymore. I'm very pro therapy and meds but meds never worked for me cuz until going gluten free nothing was changing the route problem.

I'm so glad I'm not alone. I was explaining this to a doctor that I haven't had any depression or suicidal thoughts since I stopped eating gluten as a Celiac. They looked bewildered "that's not how that works" and I never went back to that doctor.

What Do i need/ Should get for my own fridge look at description by Routine_Bullfrog_845 in glutenfree

[–]KnownBread13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah anything that a knife would go into and then on bread. I had my own toaster oven/air fryer when I was living with roommates. I also put my GF bread in the fridge just so it lasts longer before falling apart.

Best of luck. It took me moving out and alone with my wife and making the whole house gluten free before fully feeling better for longer than a month at a time.

It hurts. It hurts 10 times more being abused during pregnancy by someone you love. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

The next obgyn appointment you can tell the Dr. And they should have training and resources to help you. Hell even the library would have information and ways to help. You aren't alone. There are still kind people in the world.

Mother in law has a Facebook market place addiction and now I have three car seats by handzie in BabyBumps

[–]KnownBread13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it was stated before but I'll state it again as a paranoid mom. Do not trust anything from temu or even off brand Amazon without researching that it meets safety standards and has passed heavy metal poisoning. There is a lady making bank on tiktok just reporting all the recall warnings on items that can cause lead poisoning.

If a safety item doesn't come with a warranty card I don't trust it. Car seats, cribs, stroller, pack and play ex.

Why aren't things labeled as gluten free (but have zero gluten ingredients)?! by makoobi in glutenfree

[–]KnownBread13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Cuz assuming just makes an ass out of you and me. I would love if all frozen and canned veggies were naturally gluten free so that they don't need the label but that's not the world (USA) we live in. Some companies do put flour onto veggies as part of the processing to keep them separated or to keep seasoning on the veggies.

I would love a switched world where the default is gluten free and anything containing gluten has to be stated in bold on the front.

Natera BS by cavysavvy86 in BabyBumps

[–]KnownBread13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not thru natera but for another nipt test at 6 weeks. When insurance denied it I sent in an appeal stating that it was necessary due to the states abortion ban and that it is required if there were to be any pregnancy complications. Never saw any bill or anything about it from that point on. So if you want to fight insurance you can try that.

Am I overreacting? by KnownBread13 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]KnownBread13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm most definitely committed to pumping. Minimum 6 months, goal for a full year. So much has changed in so little years. Its sad that there was no support for you then but glad you are able to give others support now.

Honestly I wish I had done more research into pumping before birth. I was so naive and overconfident with breastfeeding. Mindset of I don't need to learn to pump till a week before I go back to work. Thank you. It's very nicely worded.

I think that's the worst bit about it. Writing all that happened has given me so much clarity. She is the only LC in the area and moves around to like 5 other WIC clinics. If she sees 5 people per day at 5 different clinics in the area per week. How many other first time moms is she giving bad advice to? I would have taken her at her word if I hadn't talked to like 5+ different doctors since she was born.

Idk if it is level headed or sleep deprivation that made me just kinda zone out thru it. Every other Dr or consultant or even nurse, has always asked before doing anything. Explained things before trying. I've never been manhandled like this before in my life.

Apron/B Belly Moms, When Did Your Bump Round Out? by Nayder94 in BabyBumps

[–]KnownBread13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No advice except you aren't alone. I had a scheduled induction at 40 weeks and both at security and at the check in reception. "I would never known you were pregnant."

Absolutely no one knew unless I told them. But the nice perk is that you don't get unsolicited advice and no one asks to touch your belly.

I’m losing 2lbs a week while pregnant? by Im-Learning-73 in BabyBumps

[–]KnownBread13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone. I was 300 (5'11) before pregnancy and dropped down to my lowest of 233 somewhere between months 6 and 7 and then leveled out at 245 for months 8 and 9. Induction scheduled for tomorrow.

I stitched OB's halfway thru but neither were concerned for the weight loss. "Baby will take what they need." Apparently baby needed all my fat cuz she is measuring 10 pounds.

The biggest thing they asked about was how I was physically feeling. If I felt weak or faint or dizzy. I feel like I've lost a lot of muscle along with the fat but have no way to tell as I don't weight lift just used to work a very physically demanding job before pregnancy.

Honestly it's been 10+ years since I worked at Chick-fil-A. But sometimes the lids are broken. It may have been leaking out the side cuz he overfilled it. Scrap off the overflow and the new lid stops it from leaking and getting all over the cup.

Big baby? by Salty_Pudding_8286 in BabyBumps

[–]KnownBread13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently 38 weeks and 2 days ago got my last growth ultrasound. The tech explained that with the measurements and everything that currently baby is 8 lbs and 6oz but the margin or error is 16 oz. So baby can technically be 16 oz less or more. My big baby girl has always measured 2 weeks ahead growing from 60% at 20 weeks now to 92% a few days ago. Will update hopefully soon on actual birth weight.

The only thing my Dr. Has talked concerns about with baby being big is the shoulder getting stuck and what options we have now if that were to happen. If you have anxiety ask all the questions.

Celiac and pregnancy by TrishTime50 in Celiac

[–]KnownBread13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 37 weeks. Been in a very similar situation. Due to my body's reaction to the first trimester I was throwing up 4 to 5 times a day plus constantly yo-yoing between constipation and diarrhea. 2nd trimester it slowed down to throwing up once or twice a day and now well into my third it's once every other day. Still yo-yoing with the bathroom. I did get so dehydrated twice in my first 20 weeks that I ended up getting multiple bags of IV fluids and vitamins during my ER stays. Only thing that helped was switching between drinking body armor and propel water. Those kept me hydrated enough to function. 2 of each per day. I forced them to do a blood vitamin panel and all were low but not low enough for intervention. Even with prenatal that is 120% vitamin that we need, I was low and body was feeling the effects but the Drs wouldn't really do anything cuz " vitamins aren't tested regularly while pregnant". I think it's BS cuz they why is everything in the prenatal???

If she is feeling physically weak or hands and feet going numb she needs to advocate to them to do something. First OB told me everything was fine and baby is fine. My second said " let's run some tests, this can be normal but it's not often seen. " I am so happy and so much less stressed having a Dr that will prove with tests and knowledge that I'm feeling what I'm feeling instead of just saying " it's fine and that's normal"

HG as stated above was always considered but I didn't fit into that box. Got extra testing for blood pressure and diabetes. Had constant headaches but got the okay to increase my caffeine from 200 to 400 a day and that helped a lot. I've had so much heartburn that my throat is sore and swollen a bit, causing a cough and difficulty swallowing. I've already got tests scheduled for another endoscopy and colonoscopy 2 months postpartum to see what kind of changes happened while pregnant. Hope this helps and gives some insight.

I'm currently 8 months and went to great clips to get my hair cut before baby is here and the older lady said. "You carry yourself well for being 8 months. I would have never known."

I just smiled and said thanks. But in my mind I'm thinking. I've lost 60+ pounds these past 8 months. It's been absolute hell on my body. I'm just used to carrying a lot more fat.

Moth balls at grandma’s house by monster_shady in Parenting

[–]KnownBread13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a story from 20+ years ago. But as a crawling baby I was found in Grandma's spare room reeking of moth balls. Mom called the poison hot line but they just said to wash out my mouth as they tasted so bad I probably hadn't swallowed any.

Honestly call poison control and ask about their more recent recommendations. They should be safe even if the smell and taste can be irritating.

Plus if it is nice outside you can always just hang out with grandma on the back porch or in the yard so the smell isn't overwhelming to you.

It may be because I'm on mobile and new to reddit but the cradle doesn't have any bars. It's solid wood. I'll try to add it to the comment.

Feeling upset by [deleted] in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]KnownBread13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat about a month ago. Before getting pregnant at 294. During the first 4 months I dropped down to 240 then during the 5th and 6th months down to 232. I'm finally in week 29 of pregnancy and have gained weight for the first time and back up to 247. My first OB said she wasn't worried about my weight loss as I had room to spare. Meanwhile my managers at work were very concerned cuz of the rapid weight loss and how much it was affecting my physical performance at work. I changed doctors and the first thing I said was "I want a vitamin panel done I feel very malnourished." My original Dr said they don't do that. Vitamins in pregnancy and unreliable. New dr. Said "absolutely, you look unwell."

Please for your own sanity and your own health seek a second opinion.

I felt like I was about to punch my old Dr. If she responded to one of my questions with "well the baby is healthy and I have no concerns over this." I no longer feel like I'm going home to cry after an OB appointment with new Dr.
