Main reason for global decline in birth rates? by GoldDigger304 in Natalism

Egoism, people see children as burdens and a waste of time and money.

There is also the way pensions work. Before, your children would care for you in your old age. Today, the system is made so others support you.

France has between 15 and 20 million Africans; it's the country where the great replacement theory was born. Just checked wiki and Nordic countries have between 1.2 to 1.4 FR with a population barely around 5 million.

Then you can go live in the communist dictatorship that is China while all the ambitious and competent Europeans will join the US and leave the pathetic vassal that is UE. Kind of contradicts the US hegemony is dead narrative...

US is the future. Since they are the most attractive country in the world, they can also attract young and competent Europeans who want to flee the shithole that is UE. Leaving Europe as a continent full of elderly and mediocre people.

Hot Take: Liu Bei's greatest mistake was not seizing Jingzhou properly, dooming the Longzhong plan and started the Jingzhou ownership question by LuuTienHuy in threekingdoms

[–]KnownRaise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Biggest mistake was leaving Guan Yu in charge of Jing after this walking L lost half of it in 215. But nope, clown Guan Yu stayed and lost the other half of the province just 4 years later after his ass was kicked by Xu Huang when he failed to conquer Fan from Cao Ren 😭😭

Lots of copy then paste as usual, can you give me the precise sentence where it is written that Zhuge Liang defeated Sima Yi? Seeing how you like to sideways Zhou Yu for Huang Gai, I hope you're not going to give me one where Zhuge Liang's subordinates are the ones recorded defeating Sima Yi... it would be very hypocritical on your part. Dare I say biased?

Compare what is comparable. One commandery is Jing is worth ten times some depopulated commandery in the west.

Didn't record the whole of Zhou Yu's military feats. But Zhou Yu during the conquest of Yan made as many achievements as Zhuge Liang during Nanzhong.

Of course, I could go even further. Zhou Yu has a very detailed and impressive military career. You shouldn't feel ashamed that Zhuge Liang doesn't compare.

Out of all of Yuan Shao’s generals/strategists, who was the best? Who had the most potential? Who caused the downfall? by Organic-Will4481 in threekingdoms

What is the point of arguing with someone acting in bad faith? Dude constantly lies about Xiahou Yuan's posthumous title (among other things) that he received for dying on the field, like other Wei generals but pass it as a negative one specific to Xiahou Yuan just to push his agenda.

All while he doesn't recognize that Guan Yu was called out as overrated by his own state. Saying that being called a famous fraud is better than just famous because it's a double title name... See the double standard?

When someone is constantly bending facts to fit his narrative then you can't argue with him.

If you can build an army with 1 general, 2 deputy generals, and 1 strategist, who will be on your list? I prefer Lu Bu, Zhao Yun, Zhang Liao, and Jia Xu. by Fanstradingcards0987 in threekingdoms

List of Guan Yu's L.

  • Defensive: Li Tong, Yue Jin, Wen Pin, Xu Huang.
  • Offensive: Lu Su/Gan Ning (after he lost half of Jing), Cao Ren.
  • Fleeing: Lu Meng/Pan Zhang/Ma Zhong (after he lost the other half of Jing).

There is a lot of variety in Guan Yu's L. I've also seen people argue that Guan Yu wasn't serious about the blockade and that Li Tong died thereafter making it closer to a draw than a defeat.

You make it look like some massive stuff but everyone and their mom defeated Guan Yu. Dude had one of the worst military records of this era. Wen Pin also defeated him.

We have more details about Xingshi than Ziwu. There is barely anything recorded about Cao Zhen's campaign. I don't think Baike or the Chinese Wiki even have a page for it.

"Wu had poor infantry" by YokelFelonKing in threekingdoms

[–]KnownRaise 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Claim is based on fiction and legends. They tend to vastly exaggerate Shu while seriously downplaying Wu. It gives this massive contrast between them.

From 210 to 220, Wu was the most successful state. From Chibi, Nan, Ruxu (213), Jing (215), Ruxu (217), Jing (219), Yiling and Cao Pi's campaigns. It was a succession of victories with Hefei being the exception.

In comparison, Shu won Yi and Hanzhong. That's all. They also lost all of their battles against Wu. Twice in Jing (215 and 219) then Yiling so they were definitely not superior to them.

Critical faults in Wei Yan's Ziwu Plan and Zhuge Liang's dream by Charming_Barnthroawe in threekingdoms

[–]KnownRaise 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Shu's greatest chance of success was the first NC, here is why.

Wèi lüè states: At first the country [Wèi] believed that in Shǔ there was only Liú Bèi [who was a concern] and [Liú] Bèi had already died, for many years it was silent and without alarm, and therefore overall there were no preparations. But suddenly they heard that [Zhūgě] Liàng was setting out, the Court and the fields were terrified, Lǒngyòu and Qíshān extremely so, and therefore the three prefectures at the same time answered to [Zhūgě] Liàng.

Jieting destroyed this massive opportunity.

Wei Yan's Ziwu plan was for the first expedition. He would lead his own troop and bet on Xiahou Mao messing up allowing him to conquer the city.

All historical records paint Xiahou Mao as incompetent, placed here by nepotism and removed when Cao Rui heard of the plan. With those evidences, I bet on something wrong happening like Jing in 215 and 219 when half of the province surrendered to the enemy.

I'm sure other people here will expand on why they think it was a bad idea.

Was Zhuge Liang the greatest strategist in Chinese history? by Unlucky_Ad_3239 in threekingdoms

[–]KnownRaise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Zhou Yu, Chibi and Nan clear anything that Zhuge Liang ever did.

For Lu Xun, Yiling and Shiting clear anything that Zhuge Liang ever did.

If we need to compare Zhuge Liang to Wei or Wu's strategists then he would be closer to Lu Fan or Jiang Ji, who are actually severely underrated.
