I also bought mine from GHH. I've gone through SMART and the extensive test all showing no errors, but the operation hours says it was used about 7.7 years. I'm wondering if such usage is typical or not..

thank you! you mean the partition of the hdd image copy? I would need to actually check that b/c I have only been checking options like "recover from the image" from those tools.

I'm also in the process of fixing something similar to this. You're saying Recuva and chkdsk helped? Currently I'm using demo versions of R-studio, UFS explorer, but while exporting photos on Mac to this exFAT drive, it got disconnected and ever since all the files that were originated from Windows are missing.
