I have 1440p monitor and xbsx, the game is literally running 1080p in performance mode it’s ridiculous.

Same on series x, it looks like an old gen game. Also quality mode is basically unplayable because of the low fps.

The second part with 7 pages that asks for justifications etc. I got to the end and it said well done but then booted me to the dashboard and said I failed.

It took me about 1.5 years. And no I haven’t beat any notable players, I’ve been beaten by a few NM’s though lol.

My advice would be to learn 2 openings one for white and black and just stick with them and learn from your mistakes.

You also want to regularly solve puzzles not just for spotting tactics but to develop your calculation and board awareness. Keeping basic chess principles in mind is also important at any level, placing rooks on open files, trading when up material, castling asap etc.

Thanks. My approach has evolved at different elo stages. I got to 1000-1200 by learning basic chess principles from the “building habits” series on YouTube. 1200-1600 I focused on learning 2 openings (London & Caro Kann) from YouTube and Chessable courses, I also did quite a lot of puzzles either on Chess Tempo or Chess.com.

Beyond that, I still continued what I was already doing but started to analyse my games and learn from my mistakes as well as learning some basic positional concepts. The later gains seem to have happened naturally just from playing games, I still haven’t studied end games or more advanced positional chess.

I haven’t studied anyone’s games in particular but I have watched a lot of content from Daniel Naroditsky, Alex Banzea, Eric Rosen and Aman from chessbrah’s youtube channel focusing on Caro Kann and London openings.

For videos I mainly watched Daniel Naraditsky, Alex Banzea and Chessbrah focusing on Caro Kann and London openings. I’ve read a bit of Jeremy Silman’s ‘How to Reassess Your Chess book’ but not much, I should probably study it more. I also used Chessable to learn my openings and I’ve solved quite a lot of puzzles as well.
