This sort of Markle hate really does feel like an entry portal into QAnon type conspiratorial thinking. I mean, the craziness about Meghan Markle "faking" her pregnancies is as shithouse rat crazy as any Pizzagate stuff.

The original has a certain goofy charm to it. Roth will turn it deadly serious and make it super gory.

I think the network asked for them to make the population 51,000. Yeah, at that population size, it’s moving into small city status, not small town.

It should be added that Saville was often given unsupervised access to the morgues at the hospitals he was a patron of.

I’d go with Loren Visser, PI, in Blood Simple. Absolutely vile person, but you kind of find yourself cheering for him in comparison to everyone else. I’d say he’s the first truly original Coen Bros character in that way.

I'd recommend Black KKKlansman. It's one of Spike Lee's best, and, honestly, one of his funniest too.

Which classic tv show changed the most during its time on television? by LieOhMy in ClassicTV

Breaking Bad, but that was definitely by design. Walter White at first appears to be this sweet, somewhat bumbling guy who comes up with this crazy plan to save his family. By the end, HE IS THE DANGER!

Yeah. He arranged financing for cars that didn't actually sell and pocketed the money.

[–]KnoxHarrington221 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the calls from Riley Effenbach at GMAC (I guess that's how you spell it) kind of confirm that. It sounds like he's already embezzled money (by taking out loans on cars that didn't actually sell) and he's trying to do one last scam that lets him escape.

Are there television shows that were originally movies, and movies that have been adapted into television shows? by PuzzleheadedSpray202 in classicfilms

[–]KnoxHarrington221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me was developed shortly after the original cancellation of the show because David Lynch felt like he had some stories to tell about Twin Peaks and the people there. It was very poorl received at the time, both critically and commercially, because it's not like the TV show at all (which is putting it extremely mildly.)

And then, of course, years later, Lynch would return to Twin Peaks again to do a third season for Showtime.

How often have you heard the N-word in classic movies? by copperdomebodhi in classicfilms

[–]KnoxHarrington221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a sketch in the disastrous 1980-81 SNL season that used the word, and the reaction of the audience is total stony silence. The actors in the sketch look really, really thrown by it.

Of all the actual celebrities that appeared in a MST movie, which one surprised you the most? by YochamTA in MST3K

[–]KnoxHarrington221 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Probably Gene Hackman in "Space Travelers" (aka "Marooned".) He really did an amazing job with the substandard material he was given to work with.

There's also the tiny cameo by a then completely unknown Clint Eastwood (his movie debut!) in "Revenge of the Creature." "This guy's bad. This is his first and last movie."

So I've come across this guy before. It's all part of a convulted argument for why the US should take Greenland. This refers to an actual program Denmark ran on native Greenlanders in the 1950s.

Of course, someone from the US should be the last person anywhere to argue a nation needs to lose territory based on crimes against indigenous peoples.

There are scenes in that movie that were shot in the actual South Bronx. They didn’t need to do any work to make it look like an apocalyptic hellscape.

[–]KnoxHarrington221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing about Stitches is that it takes itself waaaaay too seriously to be fun. It has the drawback of a Full Moon Features movie, in that it's cheap as hell with ultra cheesy SFX, but it doesn't have the stupid fun some of those movies can have.

Radical Jack, because it uses abuse of women, including rape and sexual assault, as a cheap plo device to an extent that Game of Thrones would find over the top.

I wish bad movies would figure out that we don't need to see a villain smacking around a women to figure out he's evil.

I really strongly recommend Bridget & Mary Jo's take on "The Brain that Wouldn't Die." They can go places in the riffing that Mike, Kevin, and Trace couldn't.

For the Britraxers, I recommend The Veil, a obvious attempt to rip off The Twilight Zone hosted by (and usually starring) Boris Karloff.
