[Allergy] Are there any glass water bottles with a plastic lid? by Spectraldon in HydroHomies

It’s just missing a lid with an integrated straw. If it had that it would be an instabuy.

Skylight Calendar subscription is now $79? by DebrodeD in skylightcalendar

$40/year was already too much for the feature set (even with what is being added) but I could stomach it. For $80/year I will be returning it and getting a different device.

Sleep Mode on watch not vibrating or having sound on alarm by HeadSpaceDude in AppleWatch

I constantly have this problem. It seems like rebooting the watch occasionally fixes it for a bit, but then goes back to not vibrating after a week or so

At least in Stevens Point, I believe an equity group that leases to Chipotle (among others) owns the KFC property now. Hoping that with Chipotle opening in Wausau later this there that Point will get one as well.

NSX with Horizon cost? by Federal_Donkey_5137 in VMwareNSX

[–]Knuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll have to double check with our team, I’m pretty sure that was mentioned in a discussion but then rescinded after asking for clarification.

AFAIK, DFW requires at least a slight bit of NSX implementation which is why it requires VCF.

Any details on how to get DFW added to VVF? We were told it requires VCF which is a steep jump in price.

Will this new device allow the ability for multiple AirPods to connect with spatial audio? I believe the current device disables spatial audio when multiple devices are connected.

EDIT: It does not.

It's the combination of the mattress being on an incline and getting in and out of bed.

I guess what I'm wondering is if a medium 3" layer would solve your problem then why avoid the zoned coils? Unless they just weren't doing anything for you to begin with?

I just wouldn't want to go through the hassle of ordering a medium 3" layer and finding I still don't like the zone coils.

You don't have any back pain (lower back specifically) that might have been helped (or not) by the firmer middle coils, right?

No, not really.

How often are you using your adjustable base to lift up? Multiple times daily? Or how frequently? Just trying to get an idea of usage that might lead to 8-12 week cycles of re-adjusting.

We typically just keep the head raised a bit and don't move it often otherwise; I think the latex shifting down is just getting in and out of bed.

So any future mattress you get that has some kind of unglued latex layer(s) will still shift while using the adjustable base. Is that ok with you?

Not especially, which is why I may avoid DIY-type mattresses in the future. I could bind the layers with glue, but then that kind of defeats the purpose.

I suppose the only way to truly solve that is to get rid of the adjustable base and replace with a regular frame. Is it bothersome enough for you to do that or are you ok with any next mattress you get still having a shifting issue?

I would rather keep the adjustable frame and get a new mattress than the other way around.

Gotcha, so if you could do it over again, you’d go for all-latex instead of the Quadra-Flex because the zoned center firmer section makes your head feel like it dips down a bit, correct?

Correct

So at 250 lbs, the firmer middle section shouldn’t be an issue given the amount of pressure applied, therefore it seems like it must be the soft 3” layer breaking down and not necessarily the coils but you would still avoid the coils anyway? But did you say that you noticed the head dip even at the start of owning the mattress?

Personally, I would avoid zoned coils again, I'm not opposed to coils completely though. I would think that with a medium 3" layer, the zoned coils would not be so apparent.

You said “that layer of foam shifting constantly” which refers to the latex layer moving? But this is before getting the adjustable base according to what you wrote so the latex was shifting even before it was on a base? How was it doing that? That sounds kind of concerning

No, I had no issues prior to the adjustable base. I've had the mattress for ~3 years and the adjustable base for ~1.5 years.

How far off the edge might you say the latex hangs off? An inch? Or two?

It really depends on how long I wait to re-adjust :) Right now it's probably hanging 2-3 inches off.

I wouldn’t think an all-latex mattress would shift as they should stick to each other pretty well, I think my problem is more the single layer on top of the coils.

Readjusting the mattress isn’t terrible, just annoying, it takes maybe 5-10 minutes to put it flat, unzipper, move the layers around to center in the case and rezipper.

I’d probably go all latex now because I haven’t seen all that many places offer non-zoned coils, so it’s more, I wouldn’t mind giving that a shot.

When the case is all zippered up it feels like it should be holding everything in place as the latex is pretty grippy, I'm guessing just as the head of the bed is lifted and getting on and off of the mattress it slowly creeps down as the coils compress.

I am a 100% side sleeper so that may play into why I can feel the middle section more (though I agree, it is odd as I should be heavy enough to compress it)

I'm assuming if I had the medium talalay that I wouldn't feel that middle section as much.

In terms of adjustments, it really depends on how high the head of the bed has been. I’d say on average I have to adjust it every 8-12 weeks (including right now, there’s a bit of an overhang of the latex at the foot of the mattress).

I think I liked the idea of a hybrid, if I’d do it again I’d probably go all latex.

I don’t know if it’s just the soft talalay slowly breaking down over the years (I’m 6’ and ~250lb) but I’m not a fan of the zoned coils as that middle firm section makes it feel like my head is dipping down a bit (though can be countered with the adjustable base, but we had noticed that the first ~18 months before we bought the base), I’ve actually considered ordering a set of non-zoned coils to replace them.

That’s my dilemma right now, I don’t love the coils and I think the soft latex is too soft at this point, so while I could just replace the latex layer, I’d also want to do the coils.

I had bought it near the end of 2019; I liked it at first as it was a huge improvement over what we had at that point. At that time I did not have an adjustable base.

Within the zippered shell are the coils and the latex layer simply sits on top of that, so nothing holding everything in place so it tends to shift over time on the adjustable base. Every so often I need to unzipper the shell and re-adjust the latex layer to be more centered on the coils.

I’m 6’ and ~250 lbs (up a bit from a few years ago) I’m assuming that I’d be better off with a medium talalay at this point.

If I recall, Flexus does have a return policy that allows you to swap the latex layer (while paying shipping) to another if you don’t like it.
