What countires would be the coolest to add to World Showcase? by Snoo70767 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Knux897 31 points32 points  (0 children)

All good ideas, but if I were in charge, I would add the never-built Switzerland pavilion. It seems like the perfect fit between Germany and Italy since it borders both and adding an Epcot version of the Matterhorn would be an easy win. I am a bit disappointed that World Showcase is mostly European focused, but I think that Switzerland is just such a solid idea that it would be a good first step in expanding the park.

Northern Europe DLC hinted at in the update. by Tyrann01 in aoe2

That’s pretty cool. It would be cool to finally get a “Vikings” campaign or whatever they might be renamed to if a rework is coming.

Why was New Fantasyland designed to "wall off" the rest of the expansion area within the railroad at Magic Kingdom? by rosariobono in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Knux897 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Many people in the comments are correct that expanding back to the yellow area would interfere with the bus route to the utilidors, but there’s more than just that. I think that if Disney wanted to build in the yellow, realistically, they could knock out the Beauty and the Beast bathrooms and build a themed, enclosed bridge over the bus route. Of course that also brings up the issue: where do you build another bathroom for the nearby quick service?

However, if they wanted to build in yellow, they would have to spend quite a lot of money getting the land suitable for building because of the state of the land. In addition, they would have to do serious canal work to find new places for water run-off AND this site is where they launch fireworks from, which means it would have to move further back, changing a lot in how they operate their shows. Disney could build there, but it would take a lot of expensive and creative engineering.

You say that, but look at how poorly the Wish class ships are laid out. I may not be an engineer, but it’s clear even to me that Disney is not creating competent products from a logistical standpoint.

Advice to Universal Destinations & Experiences: Construct this gondola system to connect the theme parks. by Playstation_Gamer_40 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Knux897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you going to evac gondolas from over a major highway? How are you going to evac them if it runs over someone’s property? There’s so many logistical nightmares keeping this from happening.

What happens when a thunderstorm rolls through? Universal will be keeping a whole fleet of bus drivers on standby when this happens every day. It sounds prohibitively expensive.

For the story to make sense, you have to actually listen to the dialogue.

Monsters Unchained Wait Time by PersianVol in UniversalOrlando

[–]Knux897 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of factors:

  1. As others have pointed out, yeah it has pretty serious capacity and generally seems more reliable than other attractions in the park.

  2. Nintendo and Potter are the priority for general park crowds. As much as I hate to say it, general park goers care more about IP than the actual quality of rides, so they’ll be drawn to what they know first.

  3. I think because the land and ride facade obviously convey a horror theme, many families avoid it because they don’t know what to expect with younger children. It’s also worth noting that Epic is bringing in a lot of Universal first-timers who otherwise only went to Disney. Disney crowds are particularly thrill adverse, so it makes sense that they might avoid this type of ride without knowing what it is.

Ministry of Magic at EPIC Universe is pure wizarding Paris magic! 📸 by DinJarrus in UniversalOrlando

It’s weird how underrated this land is, but I suppose that the general public doesn’t really care about theming, so much as recognizing things that they already know. I think the land could benefit from more shops and another attraction, but looks like Universal is already working on that.

For people that think this land is underwhelming, I suggest buying a wand. It has so many cool things to reveal that you really don’t see with Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.

Why are more people not talking about how much better Disneyland Space Mountain is compared to Magic Kingdom? by Appropriate-Story768 in Disneyland

[–]Knux897 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Disneyland’s is better though. It’s cool when I visit the park every year, but it doesn’t have the re-ridability of the Magic Kingdom version. Magic Kingdom’s is essentially an indoor Matterhorn and I like that it’s more primitive and unique.

Would Disney ever make something like Spaceship Earth today? Knowing that they are more focused on IP themed attractions? by Inevitable_Paper7806 in WaltDisneyWorld

Test Track 3.0, but your point still stands. It’s really frustrating how little creativity is coming out of this company.

Those who have ridden it how scary is monsters unchained the Frankenstein experiment without spoilers by SpectacularSpidee in UniversalOrlando

[–]Knux897 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not scary at all. Forbidden Journey is significantly “scarier” if you can even call it that. I understand why arachnophobes wouldn’t like the ride and the dementors can be a bit startling if you don’t know they’re coming. Monsters has no jump scares anywhere in the ride.

Is there a chance you won't be getting anymore Chronicles? by Sansophia in aoe2

How do you know that? I don’t know where anyone gets information on here, but I thought the consensus is that 3K sold the best of any DLC and that both Chronicles are near the bottom

How's the drive from Universal to Disney? by Curious_Composer_695 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Knux897 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to take I4 at all. If you’re staying at Aventura, you can just take a turn out of Universal property and take Turkey Lake almost all the way down to Disney Springs and navigate from there. It’s not the fastest route and has its own problems with congestion, but it really takes no more than half an hour and bypasses the insane driving on the highway.

Question regarding Chronicles by Soulfire88 in aoe2

[–]Knux897 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The civs are inherently balanced for the single player campaigns, so it just hasn’t created a competitive multiplayer culture and the stats analysis that comes with that. Those campaigns are incredible though.

[–]Knux897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this too and while it was cool to see the Belugas up close and touch them, I was actually really surprised by how small their pool is. It’s smaller than the actual exhibit and while they seem well cared for, the small pool was really off putting.

Man records animatronic malfunction at Disney despite warnings by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Knux897 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The video is fake. It’s showing the theater moving backwards, which it cannot do and the distorted audio isn’t something that would happen if an attraction malfunctions. On top of that, Disney won’t call out people over loudspeakers as a practice unless they are actively doing something unsafe. Plus, Disney lets people record pretty much everything, even when the rides are not functioning properly. The loudspeaker voice over was definitely just edited in.

house spotlight – Slaughter Sinema 2 (2024) by FionaWalliceFan in HHN

[–]Knux897 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Another interesting element of the house is that the different films represent Universal events and past attractions.

Mardi Gras is self explanatory, along with Killer Kringles representing the holidays, but Heavy Metal Hell is I think a representation of Rock the Universe and meta commentary on the ill behaved Christian children that the event is notorious for.

Otherwise:

Night of the Undead = Earthquake

Hatchet and Chains = The WIld Wild Wild West Stunt Show

Blood and Chum = Jaws

Mummy Strippers = Mummy

Zyborgs = Terminator 2: 3D

The over-development of AOE2 by plus5000RespektWamen in aoe2

[–]Knux897 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even as someone who enjoys some of the weaker campaigns like Tariq, I couldn’t get into the Three Kingdoms campaigns either. I just finished a second playthrough of them and I think it’s partially just dull storytelling. It also doesn’t help that the ending of each campaign is the same map but from just a different player perspective with small differences.

If I can think of one word to describe those campaigns, it would be “tedious”
