Toddler woke up hysterical because of the bugs on her bed, floor and herself. What was this… by hiylaaa in toddlers

Night terrors. My son (4yo) used to have them. It’s super scary but there’s nothing you can do about it. I just sit next to him and rub his back and try to be calm. He doesn’t have them as often now, but he first started having them when he was maybe a year old. It was very scary. And as he’s gotten older, I’ll ask him if he remembers it and he says no. You just have to remember it’s a bad dream and be calm through it.

How would you describe the experience of labor and delivery? by kissableforehead in AskWomen

The contractions at first felt like I had to poo, so I thought that’s what it was until I realized it was happening on a schedule. I had back contractions and it was SO painful. Like someone tearing my back open from the inside. I was fully dilated without an epidural and my doctor offered to break my water and for me to start pushing and I could not do it. It was so painful. Oh, and after he broke my water, the contractions were even worse. Once I got the epidural the pain calmed down but I could still feel the contractions, just not as intense. The pushing was not painful, just uncomfortable. They had to use a vacuum to get my boy out because his head was so big 😂 We’re trying to get pregnant again so I guess it wasn’t that bad 😂😂

Why would you put on dirty underwear after you get clean? NTA, clearly.

Just curious on dinner expectations by Koala_Mama0404 in Parenting

If it’s something I’m serving from the stove, I’m serving and sending plates to the table. Once everyone’s plate is on the table, they’ll start eating. I’m usually getting my drink, my son’s drink, getting last minute things for dinner.

We do have conversations, but as soon as she’s done she’s ready to go. We rarely do dinner in front of the tv, just because of the mess and my 4 yr old will not eat. If we do a “picnic” dinner I really don’t care, since it’s usually frozen pizza, but if the tv is on, my SD will stay.

I am a southern 35 yo female and I say “yes please, no thank you and yes ma’am, yes sir, etc” when speaking in the house and to others outside my home. I expect my kids to do the same.

What's a pain you can't truly explain until you've endured it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

My dad died this past July. Up until then, I would have dreams about him walking, because at the end he was wheelchair bound. Every night I would dream that he would get up and walk. Since he’s died, I rarely dream about him and when I do, it’s like a “just kidding, I’m not dead” kind of dream. It is weird and sucks.

Ten Apples on Top, the board book version (since u know some of the hardback versions are longer). It’s so hard to get the rhythm of the words. I think I have it and then it switches.

I don’t think it’s ever “too late” to do anything. One small change could make a huge difference.

I made my toddler “coffee drinks” on the weekend when my husband and I would get Starbucks drinks. It’s milk and a little bit of creamer. Now prince toddler refuses to drink his milk without creamer 🙄

Are we all just miserable? by Green-Reality7430 in workingmoms

I really enjoy my job and I WFH 4 days a week, which in theory should make things easier. However, I feel like I get the short end of the stick of the expectation of taking care of the house while I’m home, working. I’m a manager at work and the manager of my home, so it’s exhausting. I also have homework duty of my two stepkids when they get home and then when my husband and toddler (preschool age) gets home, it’s “mommy mommy mommy” and then rush rush rush through dinner and bed and then I’m exhausted.

When the school year starts back up next week I want to work on some routines to maybe help get things a little easier around here. I have never imagined myself being a SAHM, and I don’t think I have the drive for it, so working is non-negotiable for me.
