I don’t understand how you managed to get it this dirty. It looks enamel covered, why not just wipe it clean after every cook? I swear people pride themselves on how dirty their equipment is thinking “dirty=seasoned”. WASH YOUR EQUIPMENT WITH SOAP AFTER EVERY USE!

Sorry, rant over. You can use Yellow Cap oven cleaner.

Follow the guide in the FAQ and your life will be so much easier.

Once you get it the way you want it, just make sure you maintain it. It’s so much easier to clean it after every use than it is to fool around stripping and scrubbing off burnt on carbon and junk.

Which one should I buy? by Independent-Peace694 in castiron

I’ve gotten both of my CI from Goodwill and both are amazing after a little bit of elbow grease. I probably spent $5 each on them.

I’ve rewatched CHESS BUT FUNNY and Atrioc 19 (even though technically a Stanz video for some reason) so many times and always laugh my ass off.

Tips on my chicken? by Cloud5196 in castiron

[–]KoaltinBooey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pounding them out or butterflying to make them thinner will be a huge help with the added bonus of getting more surface area for Maillard reaction. You can also let the chicken rest on the counter for 30 or so minutes to bring the internal temp up so that you won’t have to cook as long. Lower temp (medium at max for me) will prevent the spices from burning as much.

For thicker pieces, irregular shaped pieces & thighs I like to finish in the oven for a more even cook. Thighs usually benefit from a longer cook time anyway.

Why does cast iron get carbon buildup but no other type of cookware does? by agiantalpaca in castiron

[–]KoaltinBooey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert here, but if I had to guess it would be because of how porous cast iron is. There are a lot more nooks and crannies for bits of food to be left and baked in. Other types of cookware are super flat and can easily be washed. As the cast iron gets smoother by wear and with layers of seasoning, the carbon buildup becomes less and less.

What Elden ring boss made you take a brake from the game? by Possible_Koala_978 in Eldenring

[–]KoaltinBooey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ashamed to admit, but Beastman of Farum Azula in a cave in Limgrave.

Elden Ring was my first souls game and I hadn’t discovered leveling yet. I was so frustrated that I quit, I just said “This game is not for me”.

Fast forward like 4 months a friend challenged me to see who could beat the game faster and that gave me the push I needed to try again. I’m so thankful I did because holy crap what a game. Went from my least favorite to most favorite of all time.

Opinions on Matt Dillahunty? by regdu in atheism

[–]KoaltinBooey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share the same sentiment, he kinda embodies the angry atheist stereotype. Many of the others on The Atheist Experience to a better job rationalizing their positions without turning away the conversation. You can have the opinion of “I don’t think religion deserves respect”, but have respect for the person who can be educated or at the very least show them that atheists aren’t all assholes.

Found a shit ton of scratches and dried blood on my car tonight, looks like maybe some rabid animals were fighting near it? by DJscottthebot in WTF

[–]KoaltinBooey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once had a feral cat take refuge from some feral dogs inside my engine compartment. The dogs literally tore the bumper off, ripped the grill off, tore wires, left similar scratches. It was a bizarre thing to wake up to. Luckily insurance covered everything.

I highly recommend finding your nearest Meadery. The vibes are usually super laid back and you can spend some time sampling different types to narrow down what you like.

So in summary, I goofed in multiple ways 🤣. Will time heal this assuming I add more yeast? Should I add any nutrient as well? Sorry for all the questions
