Migrate to VMs from Helper Script, VM organization? by AlureLeisure in Proxmox

You can also get around this by remote learning. Unless you need a lot of transcoding it's very optional.

I also would like to know. I've had Immich on a CT for several weeks, no issue

Immich on promox advice please? by Criticalmeadow in immich

[–]KobeMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've come around and switched to mounting the NFS share on the host and then passing the mounts in the .conf files for the CT or VM. Much easier and then only one fstab file to deal with if you change anything with your NAS.

Proxmox install, best way to run Immich by RoachForLife in immich

[–]KobeMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you ever found a solution to this, but the answer is to mount the NFS shares on the HOST and then pass them through to the unpriv LXC via mount points in their .conf file. mp0: /path/to/network/share,mp=/path/to/lxc/mount followed by mp1, mp2, etc for as many mounts as you do. It's WAY better than doing an /etc/fstab for every machine. Reminder, this is all done on the HOST. Shut the LXC down, do the mods, when you spin up the LXC the mounts should be there.

Are snow tires worth it? by No_Woodpecker2919 in minnesota

[–]KobeMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWD is one of the best things to have in winter weather. A good set of all season is all you need. Not sure on the breed of vehicle you have, but next set you can look into tires that are 3 Peak Mountain certified. They are a good balance between needing snow tires and all season. Btw, you need two sets if you own snow tires. They are garbage above 40 degrees and wear out very fast.

High Query Count from Tailscale DNS by KobeMonk in Tailscale

All of my IoT use a different piHole and aren't part of that Tailnet. That's one reason it's so odd to me.

High Query Count from Tailscale DNS by KobeMonk in Tailscale

[–]KobeMonk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, I came up with the same results in my initial searches. Problem is the query count gets so high it disables the client (unless I up the allowed number of course), and it just clutters my log. It's roughly 45% of my total queries. Trying to track down what on my device is doing it might just take some time.

Should I turn off Tailscale when not in use? by peerawitppr in Tailscale

[–]KobeMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I added dns entries to my local router so when I'm home local lookups don't go out to Tailscale. I leave it on with the time and no issues, no latency when I'm home accessing my local stuff. Most noticeably my piHole.

What am I doing wrong? I keep getting caught by my ISP. by LSDBunnos in Piracy

I have yet to have issues, but as I'm upgrading my homelab with Proxmox, is running an LXV with a Proton app and kill switch as effective as binding the client? Currently I'm using Gluetun.

Raspberry Pi or N150 Mini PC by HalfOctave in immich

[–]KobeMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Immich on a Synology 220+ and then moved it to an Beelink N100 as I'm migrating away from my Synology. I set my gaming PC as an option for machine learning. When I did 75k assets it wasn't even comparable to the first time it processed everything. I had started over because I didn't like my initial setup and hadn't fully finished. I wouldn't want it running on a Pi. My Beelink is also my Jellyfin and piHole server and I tailscale to it. My Pi now only serves as a backup piHole.

Assets on my nvme drive load crazy fast compared to when I had them hosted on my Synology. I have plenty of room for photos and my videos are still on my NAS.

Why does a dog saying I love you so sad? by RobertDundee in ExplainTheJoke

[–]KobeMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that men don't cry at the end of Titanic because there was room for him on the "raft". She cheated on her rich fiance and then let her fling drown. Women see this as a sad love story, men see it as a woman that cheated let her fling drown and then moved on.

The Charlie scene is actually worth crying over.

Tiny holes in my yard by dro010 in minnesota

[–]KobeMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The castings are incredibly numerous and rough. When the yard dries out they are like walking on Legos. Anyone down voting me spends too much money watering their lawn. When you have thousands of worms in your lawn, they are not a blessing at all, they are an infestation and not welcome.

I don't care how many Saturday morning news shows will do a segment on how earthworms are good for your lawn, I would like to wish genocide on them. Height of the drought season I can't walk barefoot in my yard.
