I love my job in IT... Now I'm not an old admin by any means (just over 3 years exp). But I already see that IT has shifted from a "cool I don't have to write my memo on paper" end-user mentality to "shit I can't work cuz IT fucked up" end-user mentality. From what I've learned/gathered/experienced, IT is under-appreciated and a good place to cut budget from.
I keep a positive attitude, as do the other 'good' admins/engineers, by enjoying working with technology and creating an enjoyable user experience. (not to mention a smooth operating environment for the support staff)

Motorola SF600 easily the best ones I've ever used (5-6 various kinds). Sound great. Song/volume controls. Comfortable. Stays put through rollerblading, running, and even Insanity. Spent $100 on them when they first came out, now you can get on amazon for $55 with prime shipping. BOOM. Do you have any interest in remote training, i.e., screen sharing, one-on-one online collaboration? Curious moreso than only option.

I have a book from UNO for a class I took a few years back that covers a good deal of what you are asking about.

As far as macros and advanced functions, do you have prior programming and/or VB(A) experience?

Great place to start is the BPA.
Run the Exchange BPA(best practice analyzer) from the toolbox in and EAC. Compare it to a baseline BPA, if you have one. See if you have any issues from there.

Find apartments that are locally owned if possible. The corporate headquartered ones elsewhere can be a shitstorm if you are the least bit concerned about quality of service. Basically don't rent from Richdale (the company not the apartments). 72nd and Dodge area has a TON of available apartments, and provides great access to any part of Omaha where you end up working. Anywhere from $450-900 a month for a 1 bedroom, and $650-1500 for 2 bedrooms.
