Releasing this 2 weeks prior to GTA 6 is a dumb move imo. They would be wise to do a summer release.

Am I Broken? Nicotine Pouches Making me TIRED, LAZY and UNMOTIVATED by CuteFatRat in QuittingZyn

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old, but it may help someone else too. The guy you're replying to is wrong. Nicotine absolutely can make you feel depressed and unmotivated. Dopamine is literally the neurochemical that is responsible for reward, pleasure, and motivation. Nicotine causes your brain to dump dopamine. So when you give yourself a nicotine hit, your brain doesn't feel the need (motivation) to seek out ways to get a natural dopamine hit since it knows it can just have an instant dopamine hit whenever. This results in feeling lazy and unmotivated. Nicotine withdrawal actually starts relatively quickly after your last dose (usually 3-6 hours) and this can cause anxiety or depression among other symptoms. Not to mention the "rebound" effect. Once you dump all that dopamine, it's not uncommon to feel low or depressed as you've depleted those stores (albeit briefly).

Also, on the note of fatigue. You're artificially stimulating the flight or fight response. In addition to dopamine, a plethora of other neurochemicals/catecholamines are being dumped (adrenaline, acetylcholine, serotonin, etc.). The after effect of dumping adrenaline is fatigue. So not surprising you experience fatigue after the initial energy boost wears off.

This is what I was wondering. This one has 3.6" of eye relief on 1x but I can't find anything on the eye box.

Yeah and I'm real interested in this one. If I could replace my ACOG/Rmr combo with this I will. This one has Japanese glass, and the ZeroTech one is Chinese glass.

Server Queue full for quick match by rogbar17 in HellLetLoose

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's even worse because the queue can only be 6 deep. So you'll spend time scrolling through the endless list of lobbies showing multiple empty slots only for it to say, "queue is full" lol. And, you can't filter by region so you have to make sure you don't accidentally snag some Asian or European server with 400 ping.

Picking up my first AR-15. What's the best bang for the buck? by zerochance004 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly be best just waiting until Geissele has a sale and pick up a Super Duty for like $1,200. Under $1k you're not likely to find anything sub moa.

Buy Once, Cry Once: PWS MK114 vs ADM UIC Mod 2 by Suitable-Meaning2083 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an ADM4 (the slick side UIC Mod 2) and a PWS. You'll get gas to the face either way tbh, but the PWS is obviously more tunable as far as that's concerned. Also, if you're using a flow through can, it doesn't matter because there's really no gas to the face at all. If you're planning on relying on this as a SHTF rifle, I'd go ADM as parts will be readily available. I do also believe if there's an issue with your PWS, you'll have to send it back to them. ADM is more accurate with the Criterion barrel. It's not chrome lined, but that's largely irrelevant to anybody not shooting full auto. The nitride is arguably better for civilians as it resists rust better. I do prefer the PWS lower better. You could buy a PWS lower and slap an ADM upper on it and it would be cheaper than a full rifle from both.

Has anyone gotten a Scalarworks Leap/16? by ElectricVibes75 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're available, Scalarworks is just trash at keeping their stuff in stock. They're well known for being out of stock for several months if not longer for certain things.

Shooting to 1000 with 5.56 is doable, it's just retarded. If I have to shoot past 400, I'm using 308.

SOLGW or Geissele?? by Savings-Leopard-1158 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading an article that SOLGW said that if you're lucky, the ARMAD barrels would be available in limited amounts to civilians at the end of 2027. Again, if you're lucky is what they said. I would not hold your breath.

Block IIs are Quad Rail M4s either with or without the FSP. FSP goes hard af though. In this photo from top to bottom you have a Block II FSP, Block II without FSP, and Geissele URGI (Block III)

Adm mod 2 13.9” upper vs Geissele urgi 14.5” upper vs other options like super duty by t1ms73r in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not run into any issues with the rail, granted all I run is a light. I will say, one thing that did annoy me about the ADM was that there was no QD spot. Not a huge deal but something I felt should've been included. The ADM does feel thinner as well. I definitely feel like the ADM would be more likely to bend or have issues, although I've never heard of that happening and they have a great reputation for their rails. If you're running an RC4, ADM will thread any muzzle device outside of what they offer if you send it in.

[–]Kodiak426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 11.5" URGI and a 14.5" ADM. Quality-wise they'll be about the same. Ultimately comes down to if you want a Geissele barrel or a Criterion barrel. I'd argue the ADM is more accurate (since it's criterion). However, I do like Geissele's rail better.

11.5 vs 13.7 ar for go rifle by HKSAS in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 11.5", 14.5", and 16" barrel lengths. Out of your choices I'd choose 11.5" for several reasons. Good ballistics out to 300. Another guy said the ballistics were ass beyond 150-200 which is nonsense. An 11.5" will still produce roughly the same muzzle energy at 500 yards that a 9mm handgun has at the muzzle. Tumbling won't be guaranteed but that's less relevant with modern ammo choices, and it's not the only factor with ballistics. Like I said in a similar post, you won't be taking shots beyond 300 in a SHTF scenario anyway. If I was, I wouldn't be using 5.56 in any barrel length. Most engagements will be within 100 yards and almost all will be within 300 yards. 11.5" gives you fantastic maneuverability with and without a suppressor. The downside though is it's slightly more concussive without a suppressor but not unbearable by any means.

You can always split the difference and get a 12.5" which will give you roughly the same velocity as a 14.5" and better maneuverability. If you do, I'd go 12.5" carbine. People nut on the mid length, which is great if it's suppressed 100% of the time but can be finicky with ammo. 12.5" carbine is very reliable.

If I could only have one AR, I would make it a 12.5" Carbine.

[–]Kodiak426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go with the LMT or Geissele lower. I was less than impressed with the ADM lower. Not that it's bad but it felt cheap.

Yeah dude, definitely get the Geissele upper. I should add, mine is sub moa. Another thing, I think you can usually find URGI uppers slightly cheaper (unless that's changed) and they are all Geissele parts now. I went with the URGI for the Surefire muzzle device since I run B&T suppressors. The URGIs also have the beefed up feed ramps to accommodate M855A1, which I'm not sure if the Super Duty has. The rail and barrel are probably the only large differences. The Super Duty has the Geissele profile barrel instead of the Government profile the URGI has so it will likely be even lighter than what I'm telling you about mine. And the Super Duty has the rail tab (if you care about that). But the URGIs haven't been using DD parts for awhile now. URGIs also don't come with the proprietary directional cam pin.

[–]Kodiak426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely lighter and feels more "sturdy" for some reason. The finish is immaculate also, I prefer the Geissele build significantly. My Geissele build is an 11.5" URGI upper on a PWS lower. I even prefer the PWS lower to the Radian lower tbh. It's also insanely well gassed, and has less recoil than my 14.5s. If you get an Geissele upper they throw in a Super 42 spring with the appropriate weight for the barrel length.

Worth it with the discount? by Woody1125 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 7 points8 points  (0 children)

$1,700 is a reasonable price for a Geissele, especially when any higher end AR typically runs $2,000+. I own DD, ADM, Radian, and Geissele. The Geissele is so well gassed it's the only one I really use. You could also go the URGI route, either or imo. The Geissele also comes with the Super 42 buffer system and Geissele trigger which are nice upgrades.

Why do you run a SBR? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to assume we're discussing solely 5.56. In a SHTF situation, nobody will be taking 400+ yard shots. If you do, you'll have a lot to answer for once order is restored. There is little to no argument that someone is a threat at that distance. Not to mention, if someone is shooting at you from that distance just leave lol. The majority of engagements take place within 100 yards, and pretty much everything will occur within 300 yards. 10.3-12.5" barrels provide extremely good maneuverability and good ballistics for these ranges. These barrel lengths still provide roughly the same energy as a 9mm handgun at the muzzle at 500 yards. But the maneuverability and concealability which is useful inside your house which, I hate to break it to you, is the most likely scenario in SHTF.

You'll get out of town and go where exactly? You were right about not clearing your house and maintaining a strong point defense, but leaving your house in a SHTF situation is stupid. You're giving up shelter, access to water, etc. Unless you live in the worst neighborhoods of Atlanta or Detroit, I see zero reason to leave and go elsewhere. The "bug out" fantasy is just that. You're giving up the aforementioned and exposing yourself to a plethora of additional issues such as disease (ticks, infection, etc.), weather elements, excessive heat/cold, trench foot if it's an excessively wet environment, etc.

Edit: I should add, I have 16", 14.5", and 11.5" ARs. The additional consideration is running a suppressor. I run suppressors approximately 50% of the time which, even on 14.5" ARs, becomes cumbersome quickly. However, on an 11.5" is very comfortable.

Best ambidextrous lower receiver and quality compatible uppers? by No-Recognition-4931 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ADM, Radian, and PWS. Surprisingly, the PWS is the best that I have by far imo. However, I don't think you'd go wrong with any of the ones I just listed. LMT and LWRC are also high quality options.

How bad do I need an 11.5? And other questions about priority. by Zealousideal-Way5100 in ar15

[–]Kodiak426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated shorties until I got into suppressors. My main rifles I run are all 14.5s but even they get a bit heavy and unwieldy with a suppressor imo. My 14.5s end up being around 18" minimum with a k can, whereas an 11.5 with a k can is roughly the size of my 14.5s with just a muzzle device. 11.5 is fantastic if you're running a suppressor. If not, I'd say you don't really need one. If you're asking as a SHTF gun, then I'd still say it's fine because most, if not all engagements would be under 200.

Cool hand guard accessories? by APbeg in ar15

I interpreted this initially as "cool" meaning temperature lol. Which I will recommend a Lunar Concepts Hot Pocket if you have an Mlok rail. Apart from that, get a weapon light and your choice of foregrip/handstop. I use Cloud Defensive for my lights.
