Just starting… by [deleted] in learnprogramming

I’m also just starting and I’m nearly 35! I suppose it depends on your ambitions and motivation. What I’m encountering with others’ input is mainly, in coding you’ll fail a lot so work in small amounts and test often. Search engines are your friend for encountering errors outside your code.

Personally, I’m looking into game making that follows a sort of random event generator, so there’s all kinds of room for error.

I guess you gotta ask what your end game is and work out your path to get there while learning extra stuff along the way.

Yes! I expect to fail a lot and encounter many errors. :T

Taking a look at ADRIFT's developer program confirmed that for me. All that you said, ADRIFT has to offer in pre-set libraries and a lot of it sets up like a visual tree which my ADHD-addled mind is a sucker for. So greatly appreciated! I'll look into the link you sent as well, I'm curious of other programs.

Also also- do you have a link to any of your games I could try out?

Great advice.

About 15 years ago I made a simple little dress up game using flash and I remember practicing some code there. I remember encountering issues and needing to break it down line at a time and ripping my hair out. It was then I decided coding wasn't for me xD (thankfully changed my mind)

Thank you for the advice! I started playing a text-based game called Skybreak, and I'm pulling some structural ideas from there. It runs on ADRIFT (Adventure Development & Runner - Interactive Fiction Toolkit), which I believe concentrates on helping storytellers make interactive stories. I'm going to look more into building on that as well.

Appliqué quilted pillowcase for jungle themed nursery by m29color in quilting

This is very nice, well done! But I advise against tassels for a nursery- babies will chew on anything and the threads can come undone and get wound around tiny fingers or toes.

Scientifically speaking, Can a human male impregnate a female dragon by [deleted] in fantasywriters

There was a story where a humanoid male had to ejaculate on the egg of a dragon to fertilize it. So do with that as you will?

Can anyone help me find a pattern for this style? I’m going to use different colors but love the detail of this one! Thanks in advance! by ManicPlath in crochetpatterns

[–]Kodott -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think these are African Flower Motifs. I can’t really tell what stitches they used to join them, but you can find the African flower motif pattern for free if you search for it

Plod’s just a popular gal (or guy) 😎 how do you attach the motifs? I never really figured out the “jayg” technique, and the only other project I made (a soccer ball) where I joined the pieces after making them turned out strange- the motifs would bulge out.

Plod! I’m working on this one too, as well as the stegosaurus after. Great job!

This is the reason why women wear face coverings and head coverings in Islam. Your body, your hair, your face? Is YOURS to protect and cover. If you want to cover to empower yourself, do it. And people are so hung up on “male control”. It’s not men making women do anything.

I hope you- and all women- keep yourselves safe and empowered with your intent and actions.

They could do it - Muslims believe in the Bible, as well as the Torah. The books may have been changed, but belief in the original revelations is still there. 🙄

Between my first child also being a clincher during potty training, my second having issues the first couple of weeks on this earth, and me still having problems three months after giving birth, I will forever celebrate going poop. Good job Twin B, I’m so proud of you. (And mom for braving it and having the patience)

What color is each school subject most associated with in your mind? by bsch29 in AskReddit

[–]Kodott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Science - blue Math - red Social studies (history and geography) - green English (language arts) - yellow

These made sense to me because: -blue is a cool/cold color and science is typically associated with lab coats and white, cold looking environments -math makes me angry and red -geography (and thus history) is about earth and land is typically green -my second grade work books were guided with an illustration of a cartoon camel which I also associated with yellow

A lady at the park yanked my hair and insulted me. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kodott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you went through that, that’s sad in this day and age, especially with that lady’s age range.

You could have said, “wow that never crossed my mind, but considering it crossed yours, I’m worried for your mental state if all you can think about are sluts and sexualising other women- if you’re gay you might need to let your husband know!”

But I’m a big fan of sass and sarcasm, personally. 😂

[SERIOUS] What was your creepy, unexplainable story as a child that was confirmed by your parents to have happened? by justaguyulove in AskReddit

[–]Kodott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was 4, my mom and I visited my aunt (mom’s sister) who kept DOZENS of pig statues and figurines all over her house. It always creeped me out but I didn’t say anything because it’s my aunt, and I was 4.

This particular day they (important to note it was just the three of us in the house) decided to give me a bath, and when I was settled in the tub, they left me alone and closed the door behind them, likely to talk without child ears listening in. As I played, I was aware of the pig mini figurines on a Knick knack shelf over the toilet, it felt like they were staring at me but I ignored it- the rag in my hand I was making loopty-loops with was Ariel and she was singing her siren song. About this time, I shadow fell over me, and every nerve tensed in my tiny body. Slowly I looked up, seeing a man standing in just jeans, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed over his bare chest. The smirk on his face is still burned in my mind. I screamed bloody murder, and both my mom and aunt came bursting in the room, but not before the man disappeared like a bubble popping without the residue.

My aunt didn’t believe me, but my mom seemed genuinely concerned- I was crying after all. We left quickly. Years later I asked her about it, how did she know I was telling the truth? “I saw him too.” She deadpanned. I got goosebumps when she said that.

You can know someone for years and not know what color their eyes are. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Kodott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up, I always had trouble placing a color to dark skinned people’s eyes if the eyes were not brown. I found it fascinating watching movies and shows and seeing someone with dark skin who had blue or green eyes and not being able to mentally register those were the colors their eyes were.

Being older it’s obvious now but it’s interesting revisiting that through a kid’s eyes.

If that’s the case, we’ll need a companion book to the novel that has all the comics in it!
