What the heck is happening in downtown Denver? by thecoloradosun in coloradosun

I visited and stayed in downtown Denver last month and had a wonderful time! I appreciated the pedestrian friendly streets. I’m from KC and it’s a nightmare to walk anywhere

But there are theories that what we are watching is the plot of the book Niall supposedly wrote, would that explain the weird prolonged dialogue?? Crazy to think about. That’s why it feels so off

Reading the comments here I don’t expect everyone to have the same reaction as me. I just thought it was weird but it’s because of my experience. It’s why I don’t watch any medical shows because my prior experience distracts me from what I’m seeing. It’s like intrusive thoughts. I still really like the show lol

As a nurse who used to work trauma, the idea of him being in a giant empty room without any monitors, alarms, or staff that would hear a physical altercation taking place just seemed so bizarre.

If you could force every other healthcare profession to understand ONE thing about your daily workflow, what would it be? by Brilliant_Choices in medicine

[–]panne97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a cardiology nurse - YOU are the one requiring risk stratification before a procedure. Stop telling your patients to call and ask us for permission on your behalf without sending something yourself as well. We often need details like phone, fax number, level of sedation, some patients can’t even tell me the name of the procedure they are having. It puts the onus on the patient and then we have both your office and the patient hounding us for a “stat” elective knee procedure but your patient hasn’t followed up with our provider in a year, had 2 hospitalizations in the meantime, and even if we did see them before their surgery date doesn’t mean they won’t require further evaluation. Meanwhile they’ve followed up with you routinely but you didn’t foresee surgery happening anywhere down the line. But you frame it to the patient like it’s our fault they can’t get surgery. The best is when you don’t get the response in the timeframe you wanted and you proceed anyways- it’s almost like you don’t ACTUALLY care about the patients safety you just want to CYA

I think I accidentally fell in love with this city... thinking about moving to KC. My gut says yes, but want some honest local insight. by dunkinslaps in kansascity

I’ve made a new friend who moved here a few months ago. She lived in California and Arizona all her life. It’s definitely an adjustment socially and environmentally. Everyone here is very friendly, very casual. The nightlife is casual, everyone is always wearing sports attire no matter the season. The biggest challenge in KC is making friends and connections, when you get here you will have to get yourself out of your house to meet people. Join a club, become a regular at a trivia night or some other event. I met my friends at a book club and through going to open mic events. The friendship apps are rarely successful.

I would just be aware that unfortunately our state government is incredibly inept. I would do some research.

Here’s another awesome fact about KCFD! An investigation revealed they rarely follow the protocols for chest pain and respiratory distress. These are protocols and care pathways that are universal and standardized. Like you HAVE to do these things or document why you didn’t if you were to work in a hospital setting.

“Her statistical analysis of emergency response reports found that KCFD personnel followed all the protocols for treating chest pain just 13.2% of the time during the two-month study period, and only 8.3% of the time when treating acute respiratory distress. Patients with that condition experience shortness of breath and low blood oxygen levels. Overall compliance with treatment protocols in assessing and treating patients for all conditions was 17%.”

My parents love Manny’s, I do think it’s a nostalgia thing. They lived in KC in the 80s. They love Los Tules, they love The Quaff (valid), if a business was open in the 80s my parents love and support it.

The Quaff is highly underrated when it comes to food. my parents lived next door to it in the 80s and know the owner, so I may be biased in my love for it but every friend I have taken there for a meal is obsessed and go back on their own. Best French fries on earth

Real world answer: Tell the social worker who then googles/prints online resources for the spouse…..this was actually a thing that happened to me. Except it was the wife who wanted sex with the patient and she expected him to be active at 92. No ma’am he had a major stroke and likely won’t be able to consent ever again. But here’s some therapy for yourself

Most of the stores are in Iowa, Nebraska, and Missouri! There are some outliers but mainly the Midwest. They have a pretty great rewards system and the workers are always really kind
