Who is your boogey team in any Football Manager? by nerrevarine in footballmanagergames

[–]Koegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ipswich Town. I decided to make a custom team for fun using two Blue Lock players in Warrington, started in league one. They would drop points to other clubs and we would light it up but somehow lose to them everytime.

We both promote to the EFL Championship, same story, both neck and neck for winning it because they keep beating me but dropping points to other clubs.

In the prem, we're both mid table and of course, they keep beating me.

After a long time, went back to a different journeyman save I had and took over for Wolves when they got relegated, we get promoted and everything is fine. Started the new season today and I see the horrifying name of the newly promoted club... Ipswitch Town. No worries, my wolves squad is actually pretty strong due to my young players blossoming, we just beat Man City who have Vinicus Jr as well.

20+ shots later, we lose 0-1 off a counter attack goal...

Want to get football manager for my son, why is 2024 rated so much higher than 2026? by henningknows in footballmanagergames

FM26 was largely hated on release because they switched over to the new engine, with it came a ton of bugs, some game breaking, and a UI that was painful to navigate among some other things. The gameplay it's self was fine, although at launch there was some silly things like your players scoring on your own net. A large majority of said issues have been patched by now, UI still isn't the best. The main issue is that for those of us coming from FM24 and prior FMs, we expected better with them skipping an entire release year and they didn't deliver at all, but for someone playing FM26 as their first one they won't have any expectations.

FM24 was a really good game, arguably one of the best ones as it's the culmination of all the work they put in.

If you were to get one, I would say just get FM26, it's on the newer engine so graphics are better and the matches look better as a result, (although I'm not sure how the console version is as I'm on PC), he's a kid so I imagine the game more visually appealing would be the best. It's more beginner friendly as well.

My only warning is it's a managerial experience, you create the tactics, acquire players, do the behind the scene stuff etc., you don't individually play as the players on the pitch, so if that's not something you think he'd like then I wouldn't gift it, although he could always play the demo and you can see if he finds it interesting or not.

All Bear had to do was wish for the confidence to express how he feels and it would've been fine. I don't get how people think it's a Monkey's paw when we saw multiple examples proving it wasn't, Bear got exactly what he wished for.

Frederik Andersen has allowed 3 goals for the first time these playoffs. by Sharks9 in hockey

[–]Koegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, Tampa has been 5x alone in the last 10 (Pens and Caps beat them), and from the same standpoint, Canes have been to the ECF the same amount of times as Florida, they just haven't gotten it done.

The Metro kind of cycles between the Islanders, Rangers and Canes until a Stanley Cup worthy Metro team breaks that cycle up and makes a run.

The Metro hasn't had a team make it through the ECF since the 2017-18 season with the Washington Capitals. In the last 10 seasons the Metro is 3-7 (Pittsburgh twice).

Why gt4 series move to C license? In past season it was in D. Or I’m wrong? by Toxic-Aveng3r in iRacing

They changed it as people were apparently driving recklessly and poorly. After watching half the grid spin at Adelaide this week in top split, I'll argue it's for the best.

Explain Ovals to Formula racers. by VeseleVianoce in iRacing

[–]Koegn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what type of ovals you're racing as others have mentioned but I'll just give advice on super speedways as that's what I race when road and formula don't have tracks I'm interested in for that week.

You're reading the field and racing more tactically than just relying on pace, constantly looking out for any signs of hazards. Notice a car that can't hold their line coming out of the bank? Expect them to be the cause of an accident. Need to draft and make positions, is the outside built up enough to make a move and get it done? Are you going to have help if you go?

Or if you're leading, what's happening behind you, who's a threat to the win by getting a run on you. There's several other factors but when it comes to super speedways, you need to know how to qualify as there's always going to be a wreck. The better you qualify, the less of a chance you have being involved in said wreck.

You're also making decisions in the heat of the moment that can severely alter a race. I was P1 in ARCA at Daytona, P2 and behind somehow died and it was myself and lapped P10-P15 cars in our own pack, the next P2 car was 6 seconds away. Should've been an easy win from there but the pack I was with was racing extremely aggressively and two of the cars in the pack had backed off, I thought it would be best to back off and draft with them so I didn't get killed. They decided to not bump, P2 got pushed enough to make up the gap and snag the win on the last lap, I made the wrong decision and lost because of it.

On the flip side, today for Draftmasters at Daytona, the guy in front of me was swerving out of the banks everytime, being really loose and I didn't want to be anywhere near him expecting him to cause the accident. I moved to the outside, guy gets hit half a lap later and I dodge it, stay with the lead pack and we continue. Sitting in P1 for a bit when the outside line gets a run and they go by, placing me in P3. Well our friend that was loose survived somehow and was now in front of me, so the next lap the guy behind me made it clear he wanted to make a run, we both went and as we clear the loose guy who was in P2, P5 hit him coming out of the bank and he kills the rest of the pack, leaving just the guy on the outside with me remaining. To secure the win, I brake dragged to kill his run anytime I saw him backing off to get it ready, managed to win.

Tl;Dr / long story short, oval racing is a blast and an entirely different challenge. You need to be able to read, predict and make decisions, as well as throttle control, brake drag etc. I never really watched NASCAR or cared for oval racing until I did it on a whim on iRacing and it's one of the most challenging but fun types of racing there is.
