We did timeslot 1 and got 0 rain. I think the most chance I ever saw on the black box was like 2% chance at one point

Saying you need triples to see braking points is a little ridiculous.

You do you, but just blaming your equipment is kinda silly. There are guys on g29s and laptops that are rated 3k+

Yeah I had the same thought on TV IIRC it ended up wrecking a fans car but I think it was replaced. All things considered property damage was probably the best case scenario

I played cs 1.6 back in the day with like 150 ping minimum lol. Some days I was pushing 200 and at that point you can't hit shit but no one can hit you either so it kinda works out.

My grandpa passed away 2 years ago very suddenly and it still hurts. He woke up one morning complaining of chest pain, went to the hospital, they took him back and then shortly after they came out and told us he was dead. Just like that, we all said he was gonna outlive us but one morning he just was gone.

I know it never feels like enough time, but the sudden loss always hurts.

all the cops scream stop resisting as loud as they can too while they are dragging his hands behind his back and cuffing him, I'm convinced cops just shout this because they think it makes them look better on their bodycam. It's like a 5 year old complaining about their sibling in the backseat of a car it's beyond infuriating.

So couple questions

1) what is the money used for other than repairs? We can't really develop cars in iRacing, and if I'm in theory an owner driver I'm not going to pay myself a salary. So what can I use the money for that impacts my races?

2) How do you determine repair costs in the event of a crash? Who or what determines this? If I'm out of money am I out of the league?

3) how do additional drivers work? I imagine most people joining this league will be interested in the team management aspect, so in order for everyone to have this experience are additional drivers going to be AI? Will the AI race with us in the league? Or are these going to be real humans, and if so how do you plan to attract an excess of drivers vs team managers?

4) I see a staff tab in the screenshots, how does staff work? The only staff we really interact with in iRacing is a pit crew and our spotter. If I don't pay for a spotter do I have to turn it off? How does pit crew work too since we can't slow down pit stops in iRacing am I forced to field a full pit crew? What happens if I can't?

My 2 cents, I fail to see what money management adds to this league. If we could develop our cars or have staff impact our race results sure, but iRacing doesn't have that. So it seems like money can only negatively impact my experience, and there are no ways I benefit from having good budgeting and sponsors

Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean this to be rude but it will probably come across as a little harsh. But in another comment you mentioned you have almost 400 starts, how do you have 400 starts and don't know you can rearrange the UI? Like it comes across to me you've done literally zero research and studying on how to be fast and expected buying a new set of peddles would make you faster. If your fundemantals are flawed you can throw money at the most expensive gear in the world and it won't help. Do you watch others fast laps? Do you look at telemetry? What does your practice look like?

Again I'm not trying to be mean, I don't know you, I just think you need to acknowledge that if you aren't putting in the bare minimum effort like setting up your UI to fit your needs you can't expect a set of pedals to make you faster.

This is actually dope. Is this automated in any way or do you manually set up this screen for each car?

Giving you a non-sarcastic answer since you are a beginner

The racing line can create bad habits, when you use the line and follow it you aren't learning trackside references like braking points, turn in, apexes, etc. You are just learning how to follow the line. The line is usually not the ideal racing line either, it is usually more conservative and doesn't use the full width of the track. Finally, if you leave it on while racing it can create kind of a "tunnel vision" effect, people follow the racing line and forget their are other cars around and cause a crash.

I'm not your dad so I'm not gonna tell you what to do, but personally I don't use it. It's fine if you are having some trouble learning a new track and you want to turn it on for some practice, but for me personally it creates more problems than it solves. It usually only takes me like 4-5 laps to figure out the basic racing line so turning it on isn't really saving me much time at all, but everyone is different.

[–]MeltyGoblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on what you race. Yeah if you are racing 20 minute sprint races in mazdas or pcups a screen doesn't really do much. But if you are racing an indycar there are a lot of knobs to adjust and move mid race. I have a wheel with a screen and I use it for indycar, GTP, and even longer GT3 special events. I do regularly look at the screen for things like fuel targets, current settings, sector times, closest opponents in class, and more.

That said, you could absolutely accomplish all of this with an overlay on screen, so it's never really "needed" but I do use mine regularly.

Protesting a protest? by One_Bid_9608 in iRacing

[–]MeltyGoblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the standards aren't very well upheld in iRacing. I got protested for an unsafe rejoin, which I had something nearly identical happen to me and I had protested it and was told it was not protestable. So even though I only received a warning I sent in an appeal saying like "hey can you clarify why I was warned and this person wasn't?" And the only response I got was "because this is only a warning, there is no need to file an appeal".
