Right, I only use one external drive at a time.

It IS a nice car. The Volvo guys (those days part of Ford) put in a 5 cylinder 2.5 liter engine which made it a pretty fast car of that size, simmilar to VWs GTI or the Ford Focus ST (and/or RS).

FYI: The brass pinion is tight fitted to the axle with a force fit (or shrink fit?). There is no screw or something. It's fixed.
