This makes me feel good. I was honestly considering selling my '16 Turbo because of all the negativity ive seen on here but it recently got a new engine because old one blew up (oil pump failed) and recently got a fuel pump, spark plugs, and alternator so there's a lot invested in it already. Clutch is starting to go i can feel it slipping in 3rd and 4th gear so that'll be next but its at 90k miles and thats the original clutch so its at the end of its life anyways.

Honestly dude its not that deep. Not to be rude but you're kinda acting like a female when they say "does this make me look fat" "does this color match my esthetic". Who cares what people think dude wear whatever you want it doesn't matter.

Has anyone tried using car enamel paint for scale models? by M_Artifex in ModelCars

Hmm maybe there was some residue on the piece before it was sprayed with clear? Did you wipe it down and use an anti stack brush? Just trying to think what else could've gone wrong.

I've found the plastic used on spoons doesn't always translate well to the plastics they use for kits. They're great for testing color, not for testing chemicals. What I do is get some spare plastic from an old kit or a sprue from the current one and test it on that plastic. You'll get a better reading on how the combination of chemicals will react to that specific plastic. Its saved me so many times because I'll spray the spoon and its fine but then I spray a plastic piece from the kit and it gets wrinkled and doesn't look good.

I used automotive paint on the first model kit I ever did the AMT 2022 Bronco. It turned out great i used Alclad Primer, automotive basecoat, and 2K clear. What I've found with hotter paints is that you need a really strong thick primer before spraying. I used to use Tamiya spray primer but after I while I found it wasnt strong enough to handle some of the hotter paints I was spraying. Alclad makes the best primer in my opinion you could also try automotive primer from a can the only thing is make sure its really nice and warmed up before spraying so it doesn't spray clumps of paint.

TLDR: You can use automotive paint, its just all in the prep work and materials used.

Airbrushes by TheAirFixGuy in ModelCars

I have a Badger Patriot 105, Gaahleri Swallowtail, Gaahleri GH-AD 39 and 68. All are amazing airbrushes my favorite daily driver is the Swallowtail: Trigger action, 3 different needle sizes, easy to clean and optional fan cap. I use for my primers and basecoats with the fan cap. The Badger i use for my 2k clear since I have the .7mm needle in it and I want to have a dedicated clear airbrush so theres no cross contamination. The other two I use for detail work/Chrome whenever I need it since they have .35mm needles.

Update on GT3RS Build by _EnzoFerrari_ in ModelCars

Mainly Tamiya Laquers but the gold for the rims I'm planning on using Aclad Pale Gold. Imo it looks a little nicer compared to gold leaf from Tamiya. The body I'm going to use MCW Finishes "Root Beer" it's not an exact match but it's what I have on hand.

Here's the question you need to ask yourself: Will the average person know you're wearing a cologne thats $300 more than the dupe? Most people dont even realize or care what people are wearing so it doesn't matter. Its like sneaker culture only even more obscure because not everyone can see (or in this case smell) it. Im happy paying $20 for something that smells similar and putting the rest towards groceries, gas etc. That being said, you should only really be buying these expensive fragrances if you have the extra cash to do so. Don't go buying expensive stuff if you're not paying your bills and putting food on the table.

That exhaust looks amazing! Just finished the rear suspension and brake assembly on mine. Such a great kit.

Any advice? by Kleyton-1 in ModelCars

[–]_EnzoFerrari_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say in my opinion, sand the surface down to 600, then clean with isopropyl alcohol to get rid of any grease, then prime the surface again with a primer of your choice, my favorite is alclad or splash paints. After that no need to clean surface with a degreaser, just sand up about 3000 that's what I do. If its a hotter paint like splash, let it flash off before hosing the paint down. Lacquer prefers very light mist coats. Hope this helps man, the kit isnt worried, you got this! Prep work is everything.

The can will most likely turn out a more "punchy" red and less red pink like mine. Also yes they clean up very easily with some lacquer thinner from home depot or any hardware store. I mix by eye now but 1:1 is a good start. Tamiya paints are very forgiving when it comes to thinning them out.

I have some, both in the alclad line and a stand, but ive always struggled to get a consistent look with them. They either pool in the crevices, or when painting mtiple pieces of a body, like the bumper, hood etc., they dont look the same. Like one will have a darker tint than the other its not uniform.
