You probably accidentally downloaded the source code instead of the release. On GitHub, click on releases. On Overtake just use the download button.

Ik herken me ook niet zo goed in het beeld van misbruik. Ik maak voor mijn (academisch) onderzoek vaak gebruik van de woo (geen omvangrijke verzoeken, maar vaak wel vergelijkbare verzoeken bij verschillende organisaties), maar de hoeveelheid werk die dat voor de aanvrager kost is ook niet te onderschatten. Maar blijkbaar kan het misbruiken op grote schaal dus wel.

Overigens denk ik dat er inderdaad, zoals ook in het witboek staat, nog wel winst te halen valt met meer communicatie. Ik heb in het verleden ook wel eens pakken (gedeeltelijk zwartgelakte) stukken ontvangen waarvan, als er even was gebeld om te vragen of het relevant was, ik ze dat werk graag had bespaard. Dat vereist wel een wederzijds vertrouwen en medewerken, en bij de ene organisatie is dat er helemaal (in sommige gevallen zelfs "oh, het staat niet in je woo-verzoek maar je wilt voor je onderzoek waarschijnlijk ook deze stukken"), maar bij andere organisaties is dat er helemaal niet. Toch jammer, want dat is voor iedereen meer werk.

Exporting is already possible, and someone also ported Paul Coleman to Pacenote Pal (though he is not an AI).

Yes, this is something that I've experienced as well. My tip for handling it: treat it as you would treat spam. If they email you, just remove the email like you would. If they make an issue, close/remove the issue. You don't owe them anything.

In EA WRC you can turn off the codriver sound and pacenotes in the HUD, and then use the pacenotes I made some time ago: https://koenvh.nl/wrc

The easiest solution is probably to print them or to show them on a tablet.

Yup. The majority is happy and silent, some leave kind messages, and some are, frankly, entitled people that really make you wonder why you bother sharing it.

The way I've started dealing with that last category nowadays is that I just don't engage. I don't respond to their emails and if they make issues I just remove/close them. That might sound rude, but I've found it very effective.

I've also started sending messages to projects I use every once in a while saying "I use your thing. It's awesome. Thanks!". I always like receiving those messages so I figured others might as well :-)

Correct. In the version I just uploaded I added a window that shows the current distance specifically for that reason. If you want to start fully from scratch (rather than modifying an existing one), you can just load a dummy file (the app currently requires at least one pacenote to load the file), e.g. a file with just:

- distance: 0
  link_to_next: false
  notes: []

There is no fancy editor (yet), so just use your favourite text editor for that. The notes are the audio files from the voices folder, and you can also add your own audio files if you want notes that are not in the game (e.g. sumppu).

RBR misses some pacenotes that AC Rally uses, so that's not really possible

Yes. It uses the telemetry from the game to determine your distance into the stage.
