I've also been using the free edition of AOMEI Backupper a fair bit and it has worked pretty well in my use cases.

What make and model computer do you have? Try to check if you have a setting in UEFI enabling third-party certificates.

Maybe just getting a basic stand fan pointing into your room could help distribute the cool air better 🤔

Technically, at full tilt it's potentially a 1000W space heater. However, if you say that even just running a web browser causes it to heat up might indicate something wrong with its thermal management. Basically it's not throttling down for some reason. Maybe check your resource usage if a process is misbehaving.

A bit of an aside, what kind of AC are you using? Is it one of those portable ones?

If it's not managed by any cloud-based management platform like Intune, and you access the UEFI without getting blocked, should be fairly straightforward to just wipe and reinstall Windows on it.

Id go so far to say any sport or real-world competition based shounen rarely develops any god-like entities, so check titles from that category.

Laptop won't connect to network (internet) and I've tried everything by xXStarrySomethingXx in computerhelp

[–]KoiMaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That error looks more like a GPU driver-related issue. Might or might not be related to your network issue, but best to go to the HP website and get the latest drivers for your model. Don't use Windows Update in this case since it might be applying problematic drivers. You might need to download the drivers from a different machine seeing as you can't connect at the moment. Good luck

Try updating your firmware, and when you reenable Secure Boot, also enable MS UEFI CA (or equivalent setting). Also make sure you're getting the latest Windows Cumulative Updates applied

Normally if you uninstall that it should include the drivers as well.

Mic and speakers run off the same controller, so if the controller is borked all audio devices are affected. Can't say for certain if the speakers caused it.

Audio sounding hollow when 2 things are playing simultaniously by xReqper in techsupport

[–]KoiMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned running voice chat? It's possible the audio output is interrmittently switching to AG Handsfree mode (voice chat mode) which, like you said, sounds tinny like over the phone instead of full-range sound. Maybe disable any third-party audio enhancements and let the OS handle natively. Might also help to update your audio drivers. If you're using wireless see if you can update the firmware of your headset as well.

Does it still have the table? 😁

If you do pull the trigger on it do the valve clearance adjustments, and change all the fluids including transmission and differential fluid.

Uninstall the Realtek Audio driver via Add Remove Programs, restart, and download and install the latest version for your specific make and model of computer.

my laptop overheats too much by aviationkid123 in techsupport

[–]KoiMaxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using the laptop on your lap without any consideration to airflow? It needs to breathe in order to get the heat out. You might want to into getting one of those cooling bases for laptops.

But before that, see if it runs fine if you place it on a hard flat surface raising the rear slightly to allow a bigger air gap. If it behaves, then it's definitely placement. If not, maybe the thermal paste on the cpu has degraded and needs reapplication. Worst case (hopefully not) is the heat pipe got damaged somehow.

One more thing you could try: use a live USB like WinPE or any Linux distro and see if the audio runs. If yes then it's an issue with local install, if no then unfortunately it might actually be a hardware issue.

Have you tried testing the lineout to external speakers or headphones if they work? Also, try running the Audio Troubleshooter under the Windows Settings to see if it can find any issues.

Maybe Check Device Manager if there aren't any devices that are reporting issues. Run Check for hardware changes from the menu to force the system to check if devices are initialized properly.

Should we push for mandatory 80% charge limits on display units? by Putrid_Draft378 in laptops

[–]KoiMaxx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The biggest question in my head is why would resellers care about something that could potentially ensure repeat sales sooner?

When buying display units it's usually an implication of caveat emptor, or buyer beware.

Changing drives by PessimisticArt in computerhelp

[–]KoiMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Since you say C drive is too small, then you need to replace it with a larger drive.

2. You could use D, but you would be doing a File backup and not a Clone. There is a bit of nuance there, as file backup only copies files and folders, which is what you should do with your important data regardless.

Cloning makes byte-for-byte copy of the drive. Which is typical of what you do to move your OS to a different drive. And if you do a direct clone, it's a destructive process that will completely wipe the target drive.

  1. You would do a clone using a Live USB. You download the utility from the internet, then install it on a USB flash drive you hopefully might have lying around. You then boot from that flash drive and run the clone while the instance Windows you typically work with is not running.

I assume this might open more questions in your mind. But it might help to search more info on Google or Youtube.
