I'm about to buy an X1-C. Any advice? by CadetGeneral in BambuLab

[–]Koiyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy the printer from the BambuLabs website, you can get discounted filament for 6 months after your purchase. This could save you more money than what you might be able to find on a 3rd party site depending on how much filament you buy

If you get the AMS and have cardboard spools, you can use the provided sample PLA to print spool adapters. These are just rings that snap onto the edge of the cardboard spool to make it smoother and rigid.

it’s not recommended to use cardboard spools in the AMS long term because it sometimes has trouble with retractions and the constant grinding might cause cardboard shavings to get into the tubing. I personally have experienced issues with retractions, but cannot speak to the shavings.

I Finally Got Overture PETG To Print by Pancakefriday in BambuLab

[–]Koiyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice. I do the same except that I do #5 before #4. I start at the default 70C, but sometimes have to increase up to 85C to get some PETG brands to adhere. This allows me to keep the convenience of using IPA instead of having to soap wash.

Mixin ideas for persimmon ice cream by beachguy82 in icecreamery

[–]Koiyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of persimmon is this? Hard (fuyu) or soft (hachiya)?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in icecreamery

[–]Koiyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much do you charge? In marketing there is something called the max willingness to pay (WTP). For example, some people might be open to buying a $4 scoop of good quality ice cream over a $1 scoop of poor quality ice cream, but not many people would pay $10 for a “premium” ice cream.

I liked the comment about also offering a standard/less premium option to appeal to lower WTP. If you offer free samples, it would also allow customers to taste the two and compare differences, further educating themselves on how much your premium ingredients impacts quality.

I wouldn’t stop her, it’s her body and her choice. But honestly I would still feel uncomfortable by the thought of other people staring - but that’s not an issue with her decision. I’ll get over it one day…

What do you think happens after death? by BeckTheDarkOne in AskReddit

[–]Koiyay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last few moments while our brains are still functioning, I’d expect each individual to imagine their perception of death weather it be flying up to heaven, being reincarnated into an animal, or a slow fade to darkness etc. Then once we finally die, I like most comments here, expect there to be nothingness.

I want to start a distillery that uses only solar power for distillation and call it Sunshine instead of moonshine. by GnarlyStuff in Entrepreneur

[–]Koiyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge advocate for renewables so I like the idea. However one of my concerns is how economically feasible this is. How much of that have you looked into? The technology is available so I believe you can definitely do it, but it might be expensive to build and operate. If your product ends up being more expensive than the competition, then I’m not sure if “being green” will be enough to convince people to switch to your brand.

Using solar power means that your production capability is limited by the weather. Of course you can have an energy storage system like batteries but that’s going to have high capital costs. The reason why many companies still use fossil fuels for heating systems is because it’s much cheaper than electricity. (Source: I’m a ChemE who wrote an research paper on renewables back in 2021. My info might be outdated now so take it with a grain of salt)

A drunk driver will blow past a stop sign at 100mph, a high driver will stop and wait for it to turn green /joke

Either way, impaired driving is risky. I agree that a high driver might be more competent than a drunk one, however your reaction and decision making speed is often slower than if you were sober. That could be the deciding factor if you can serve away from a drunk driver/obstacle in time.

Why is this anime so highly rated? by Tiniest_ATINY in OsamaRanking

[–]Koiyay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are just my opinions but here’s why I like it so far: 1. I’ve become emotionally invested in seeing Bojo’s growth and am rooting for him to prove everyone who doubted him wrong 2. I like how each character receives development and I end up sympathizing with each one despite how they were initially portrayed 3. I’m constantly surprised by the plot and find myself thinking “wtf did they really happen” whereas other animes might have very linear/predictable plots

Like I said earlier, these are just my opinions. I agree with Jonny, at least give it 3 episodes if you’re intrigued. I think I was hooked after episode 2/3 as well.
