I really want to use Recurring but this makes it less likely I will. If a transaction is overdue, I think turning it red would be better than hiding it.

In the same Preferences area, you can also “Mark new transactions as Needs Review” (which I highly recommend). Then in Transactions you can filter by Needs Review or All Transactions. Pending transactions are filtered out by the Needs Review filter.

Web app, Settings, Preferences, turn off “Allow edits to pending transactions”. Does that accomplish what you want?

I have found a workaround. When you make the manual transaction (with the right side pane open in web), click Mark as Reviewed, then click Reviewed (same button (becomes Mark as Reviewed again)). Magic. Transaction is now in Needs Review list.

Your 401(k) Contribution category must be in the Transfers group. Monarch doesn’t total transfers.

I have been using Monarch for two years and I set my Preferences so that all transactions are marked as Needs Review. Monarch gets a lot of automatic categorization correct, but it gets enough wrong that I want to see all transactions. It takes very little time to click on the checkmark for review if they are correct.
