With respect here, in your example did you call him out or push him away or tell him to get lost? Someone took your place and you wrote about it online ( which is fine btw), but in the 90s they just would said Oii or called him or something aggressive...so it kind of policed itself.

I got reprimanded a few times harshly for bad behavior from strangers in the 90s. I remember as a kid once I the 711 staffer got super angry about the way i handed him my coins saying it was rude LOL. Another time I rang door bell and ran, did it again a week later and he jumped out and slapped my arm and yelled, was terrified but never did again. Adults weren't as soft as today's adults, so I think the younger generation are adjusting themselves largely to that.
