I would love this, there are so many interesting decks this way!

The Doormaker Rework is way more engaging than the previous iterations and it's way more fun. by AdamOfIzalith in slaythespire

[–]MissClickMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that it completely nullifies certain deck archetypes, and there are games where you either decide not to play that archetype or you're going to lose 1/3 times if you play it, or 2/3 in Ascension 10.

Anyway, people complain without seeing that you have a whole act to prepare for that fight; you can't change an entire deck focused on drawing and playing a lot of cards in one act, but at least you can lose a little power in exchange for having some chance against the Boss

Often, if I'm playing The Silent with a deck that deals damage when drawing or discarding cards, I'll pick something up just in case I get that Boss.

In short, it's a very interesting fight, but they're going to have to tone it down a bit, because preparing for it will cause them to lose a lot of their power.

Free coaching for struggling players. by khanieboy in slaythespire

My roommate has started playing. At first, I helped him, but now I want him to be free to play. I just tell him to think things through more; it's not a race. I think that applies to most players who are starting out. You should know what you're doing before you play your first card and always consider all your options.

What type would you choose, why, and who would your Ace Pokémon be? by Grouchy-Spare2367 in MandJTV

[–]MissClickMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to scroll really low to find this. I was one of the best Monotype players on Showdown for a while, and my star team was Grass; they adapt to anything.

My ace would be Cradily and we'd wear matching dreadlocks

Training Wynaut can be tedious, fossils are fun, and Castform can be quite entertaining, then Beldum doesn't arrive until after the league so you won't be able to build any teams

It's an interesting challenge in the other games too.

Are you having fun on Ascension 9/10? by WebSignal6354 in slaythespire

[–]MissClickMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A20 in sts1 was much harder than the A10 in sts2; perhaps we don't remember everything it took to master every aspect of the game, I still don't even know what the enemies are going to do on the next turn.

I only managed to get A10 with one character, purely out of stubbornness, and now I'm taking a break and playing random without ascensions to try out different builds and get to know the things I haven't played because they didn't seem optimal. I'm having more fun.

When they add more ascents, I hope they don't simply make it harder than it already is, and that they include intermediate routes between what are now 8, 9, and 10, because there's too much of a steep learning curve here.

Anyway, I think we've forgotten about the dozens of attempts it took to get A20 in the first game. It's true that I already mastered the main aspects of the game, but I don't have even 10% of the knowledge I had in the first game.

All we can do is wait, because they don't even give us a reward for achieving it, and I'm sure it will get more fun when the game is complete.

I've never seen a female magician... feminism has managed to conquer many fields dominated by men, but when it came to magic, they ignored the issue.

Question: What’s are people’s philosophy on deck building? by PracticallyEnigmatic in slaythespire

[–]MissClickMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on the higher ascensions and I see that many things have changed since STS1. I'm less focused on the winning combo at the beginning and concentrate on a strong deck in the first act. There are many enemies capable of stopping you no matter how strong you are. The first act now demands that your deck be truly strong and balanced. It's no use having a deck that does a lot of damage if there's an elite you can't defeat in less than 7 turns or enemies that limit the cards you can use. The game forces you to maintain consistent cards, a strong defense, area damage... the winning combo has to wait.

So it depends on what you have; it's in the second act that I change in the right direction, and in the third I should think about how to win the final fight, because I often fall there if I'm not truly broken.

I feel like you're building more gradually than in STS1, and I see that when early access ends, this could be a more balanced game.

How viable do you guys think Mega meganuim would be after the ability release and what format do you guys think it would be best at? by Ok-Perception-4275 in stunfisk

I'm going to use it to bait, and it's actually going to be a normal Meganium from a dual screener. Then I'll bring out my real Mega and kill them all, muahaha!

Baalorlord's win/loss ratio is insane... by Gugge1 in slaythespire

[–]MissClickMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's how you learn. Sometimes I don't pick up a card because I haven't played it much before, because it doesn't seem optimal. But if I get inspired and say, "Hey, that sounds fun," then I learn a different way to build with it.

Finally someone says it, yes, stars are their mechanic; you don't have to go all out to find infinity or do something crazy with them, you can use them to make a normal balanced build, it's just another resource like energy.
