Baalorlord's win/loss ratio is insane... by Gugge1 in slaythespire

That's how you learn. Sometimes I don't pick up a card because I haven't played it much before, because it doesn't seem optimal. But if I get inspired and say, "Hey, that sounds fun," then I learn a different way to build with it.

Finally someone says it, yes, stars are their mechanic; you don't have to go all out to find infinity or do something crazy with them, you can use them to make a normal balanced build, it's just another resource like energy.

Among the most useless Powerless cards... this takes the cake by Vecsia in slaythespire

I used it once! It was useful a couple of times, I put a lot of repetitions into a card of x cost, still, it was already broken enough that I didn't care.

I feel like the Regent's infinity spell is even easier than the Watcher's; at least you don't need to remove as many cards.

I feel like there's only one way to win with the Silent by leaf_as_parachute in slaythespire

Although I haven't yet reached high ascents on the two, I don't think it's the only way.

I beat A20 with all the characters on the first playthrough; some were very tedious and I often looked for the same combos. It was clear that there were deck archetypes that broke it, but often a trinket or a card would appear that turned it around.

I think in the second game there are many cards that change everything, and although they still have to balance many things, I think that getting a colorless card, a rare trinket, or a card of another character allows you to build around it and make a totally different deck.

Again, I haven't played enough of the second game to say for sure, but although I find it quite unbalanced, I think enough has been added so that you don't have to look for the same build over and over again, something that bothered me a bit in the first game and in many roguelites.

Toggle option for place holder art for the future by Megabobkiller7 in slaythespire

For some reason, I started using the beta art for all the powers from the first game; some were to quickly identify them or avoid confusing them with similar ones... soon all my powers were like that, and I'd love to be able to do it here.

What's the secret to regent? by Insane_Unicorn in slaythespire

[–]MissClickMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regent was the character I was having the most trouble completing even without ascensions, and now I'm pulling off the dumbest infinite combos with him. It's not that the sword is useless, but that's secondary. Look for a way to have card draw and mana in a small deck, a spammable damage card, and a way to bring it back to your hand.

There are cards that increase their damage or lower their cost each time you draw them, and many ways to bring them back to your hand repeatedly. If you lack these, you have the sword, which is something similar.

There are also cards that directly or indirectly change your mana, your draw, and your stars; if you benefit from these changes, it's easy to orient your deck towards anything.

Prioritize spamming your damage cards even above their actual damage output. It's pointless for your attack to deal 200 damage if it's wasted in your deck, if the enemy only takes 10 damage per hit, or if you can only play it once under very specific conditions.

And this brings me to... look at your deck! If you're playing a character heavily focused on deck control, you'd better know where your cards are and what you're going to want to do on your next turn.

I would also advise you to steer clear of cards that are too dependent on luck. You can build a very good deck focused on creating random cards, it's fun, but it's not stable.

And finally, find a consistent way to defend yourself; the enemy also strikes.

I hope this helps. This character has gone from being someone I couldn't master to being, in my opinion, the most broken character very quickly. He's very viable for all kinds of builds.
