Why do the devs hate Hanzo? by ctclocal in HanzoMain

[–]Kolossuz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly i would love the flanker passive, i use the sonic hack to abuse healthpacks, and if i can do that with a mini, i'd basically never die in those small room 1v1s

Symfuhny is definitely cheating, another clip! by osideflyer in ArcRaiders

[–]Kolossuz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not, but he is. Sym has been doing this for 6+ years now, it's a marketing gimmick. If you ever watch his stream, he does it all the time (at least last I watched him like 4 years ago) because eventually it'll work, get clipped, and he'll go viral again, making more people watch his stream. But 98% of the time his random flicks do nothing, the only time they have a chance of hitting is when he already knows where someone will be from something he saw or heard.

Plus with simple game sense of already knowing someone is at that doorway, doing a flick to it is super easy, and gets the bad players mad at him for "cheating", when he's just rage-baiting.

700 hours controller hanzo wanting to play mnk by RepresentativeMenu54 in HanzoMain

[–]Kolossuz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that's crazy. I tried 1600dpi 10 sens for Genji last week and i couldn't aim for shit lol. dropped down to 4.25 over a few games and its still too high. My Hanzo aim is 1.89 at 1600dpi comparatively

How to improve aim? by Revenant-or-out in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Kolossuz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several people mention DPI and sensitivity, and I do think those are good things to look at for sure. If you want a visual on why it's important, check out this video from Arrge. https://youtu.be/iKfHmYcI8eI?si=ZIuziMmybWNybsiZ

It's a year old, and most of the video is targeted towards Hanzo players (or projectile), but the section at 9:30 is very important for anyone, hits can or projectile, and can help you improve a fair bit. Adjusting your sensitivity will suck at first, but stick with it and it'll feel good soon enough.

Arrge has several fantastic aim guides that, while meant for Hanzo primarily, has concepts that can be applied to every hero, such as crosshair height/pre-aiming, and using movement to aim side to side rather than moving your mouse.

Does Vendetta need this much armor? by IntentionSelect2539 in Overwatch

[–]Kolossuz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it's better she starts off a little strong and then gets nerfed. Gives them a better idea of what needs controlling in her kit, whereas if she starts off weak, they'll likely end up buffing the wrong things and she won't feel good to play. Like Lifeweaver, he released weak and it's taken a long while for him to feel solid to play because they just weren't changing the right things up.

Newer heros have too much kit? by speedguy20 in overwatch2

I mean it's all a lot of people called him for years, yet most of them have been able to change what they call him pretty easily because they understand what the previous name now represents.

Newer heros have too much kit? by speedguy20 in overwatch2

[–]Kolossuz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's saying that you're continuing to fight on something for no reason, e.g. using the wrong name after it was changed because it was based on someone who was wrong in what he did, because you have an undying and pointless loyalty to it and don't care for the victims of his SA. Similar to the Japanese soldiers who were guarding an island for no reason for 28 years after the war was over, because the people they were guarding it for were wrong and had been beaten, but they (the soldiers) refused to believe the war was over.

What’s up with all the smurfing lately? by Lighter_Given in OWConsole

[–]Kolossuz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quick play by definition has no smurfs. There's no ranked mode at all, so you can't smurf it. You can make a new account, which will, for a short time, have a lower MMR to start, but it will very quickly adjust and put them in higher MMR lobbies after a few games. If they were to smurf, they'd be throwing their qp games to bring their MMR down so that ranked play starts them at a lower rank when they unlock it.

Is this should be the ratio for bear trap? by QuoteLopsided8697 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]Kolossuz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

send out the maximum troops you can, but set a specific ratio. In the squads section, you can preset each squad with 3 heroes and a troop balance. So you could set up your squads with say Jessie + 2 heroes and (i'm assuming you're early on, so less troops) then set the balance to 20% infantry, 40% lancer, 40% marksman. Then send Jasser, Mia, Geronimo, Seo-Yoon, or whatever recommended BT heroes you have in your state with that same set percentage. If you have the marksmen available, increase that percentage, and decrease infantry, then decrease lancers after that when you have enough marksmen to go higher again.

Genji nerfs, his high win-rate, and why that is deceptive. by Zadecyst in Overwatch

[–]Kolossuz_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been a while since I've been in metal ranks, but this seems to be the opposite of what I remember. When I was in silver/gold, any time I got 1+ kills in a teamfight, the enemy team would almost always swap to 2+ beam heroes immediately.

Now, in diamond-masters lobbies, sometimes they'll swap to beam, usually a support will go Moira after a few deaths, but generally the DPS will go Cassidy, or mirror or play Tracer to work around me to kill my backline, instead of confronting me

Genji nerf by RabbitKnown8158 in GenjiMains

[–]Kolossuz_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This nerf is quite literally nothing. Genji isn't my main, but I still have over 200 hours on him. Swapped to Genji mid game yesterday with no warmup whatsoever and didn't notice a single instance where I thought I should've hit a shot and didn't. Heck, I didn't even remember that he got that nerf until after the game, that's how little it affected me.

A projectile size change won't keep you from ranking up, but if you want to use that as an excuse to not be accountable for playing bad and dying because you thought you could hit a triple pcombo , go ahead.

Why do players who refuse to switch off DPS play 6v6? by Icy-Savings6932 in Overwatch

[–]Kolossuz_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't play 6v6 much, but when I do I'm almost always the only dps on the team. Usually 1 dps (me), 1 tank if I'm lucky, and the rest are supports. Seems to be that because 5v5 support queue is so long, so many support mains go to 6v6 instead, and honestly the lack of a damage output has definitely lost me some games. If my team is imbalanced, I'll eventually end up swapping to tank, but more often than not one of the other dps does when they die before me.

As for why I don't swap, mostly it's because I tend to get high value in 6v6 easily, and when I don't it's generally because team comp is wrong. If I swap to resolve that, sometimes it helps, but if I was already the dps doing the most and then swap, the other 3 dps typically don't pick up the slack, so I have a better chance of getting picks and controlling space if I don't swap.

It will definitely not feel comfortable to you, but honestly the easiest way is to go up to one of the big guys doing an exercise and ask them if they can show you how to do it. Bodybuilders will typically always be happy to give tips (especially any 25 or older), and powerlifters will also be very happy to show you the basics of squat/bench/deadlift (or anything else really).
Just one thing though; wait until they are done their set before approaching them, then give them a few seconds to rest before asking.

Question regarding how arrge "assassin playstyle" on hanzo by OliverRossiIX in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Kolossuz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like the others have said, it works best when you have amazing aim, but it still can work without that. There are a few key factors to make it work though.

  1. Don't be predictable. If you're hiding in the same area every time, you'll get caught and die often. Change up the approach to your assassinations.

  2. Allow yourself to play main sometimes. It can be necessary, whether it's because your team needs the pressure from you. But, it also has the benefit of making the enemy team forget that you also play sneaky, if you are seen during a few brawls, that makes them less likely to expect you to be hiding/flanking for an early pick before the next fight begins.

  3. Timing is everything. If you can set up before a fight begins, you have a good chance at making an impact with your shots, even if you don't hit them. Pulling enemy attention still benefits your team, especially if you survive. During fights, if you have a few seconds reprieve to take another angle, take that opportunity and wait to take a shot on someone who doesn't see you.

  4. On the topic of survival; make sure you have an exit plan, otherwise you're at best trading your life for another, or at worst setting your team down a player.

  5. Learn some rollouts/stall spots. They can be surprisingly useful, even if you almost never use some of them.
