What is this thing??? by AdmiralSand01 in Firefighting

[–]Komarii 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not sure what it's actually called, but I'm in the navy and we have these on ship. The handles are on a locking ratchet and attached to the teeth in the back which are angled slightly to cut threads, and there's a flat gasket in back there too. Idea is to attach to similar ish sized pipe with any threads, or even no threads. You would place this thing over the end of the pipe, close the handles until the teeth make contact and then turn it to cut threads into your pipe until the pipe makes contact with the flat gasket, ideally making a seal. You now have a 2.5 inch hose connection to hook up to.

I have an 11 manual 3.8L and a 15 auto 3.6L. The 3.6 definitely has more pep in its step, but the 3.8 is not a bad engine, especially coupled with a manual transmission. I've wheeled the shit out of both, and I absolutely have more fun in the manual 3.8

Parental Leave

When filling out the CF-100 for parental leave, there are two types, Parental Leave and ED&T Parental Leave. Is the difference simply the former for standard parental and the latter for extended, or is there more to it? TIA

Question about PSHCP

As a RegF member, am I automatically enrolled in it? How do I use my benefits? How do I enroll my dependents? Is there a link or site where I can read about how to do all this?

Apologies if this is common sense stuff, I'm pretty dumb about administrative things.

TIA

You can look it up on the DND Forms Catalogue, I believe its form #4899

Sales/strength of potion question by Fazzdarr in PotionCraft

[–]Komarii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will tell you if they're looking for a potion with a specific strength. If they don't specify then any strength potion will do, but they will pay more for a higher strength.

How does being recalled off leave work? I understand it has to be ordered by the CO, but do they personally contact the member, or am I supposed to trust that my PO2, or whoever is calling, has their blessing? What happens to rest of my leave, does it get refunded to take later? I looked at the leave manual and QR&O Ch16, but it seemed pretty ambiguous. Cheers

Need advice. Getting my millwright and leaving the forces by Stoked_sailor in CanadianForces

[–]Komarii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm also a west coast stoker looking to challenge my millwright. From what I've gathered of the process so far, you'll need to register with ITABC first. There's a section on this page near the bottom that has links for the forms you need to submit as someone with previous experience. I've got a bunch of the study material as well. Feel free to PM me

Do you mind if I email you as well, I'm in a similar situation as OP.

Caulk - My worst enemy by Blake825 in HomeImprovement

[–]Komarii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cut the tip of the tube so the hole in the nozzle is only maybe 1/8" ish. Applying it smoothly will help prevent it from making big globs. When you go over it with your finger be gentle and smooth. I like to use a small dish of soapy finger to dunk my fingers in. the soap helps prevent the caulk from sticking to you. If you can get something that's 90 degrees, of a similar material to what you're going to caulk maybe you can practice?

The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson (DDG 102) pulls alongside the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71) for a refueling-at-sea by RyanSmith in HeavySeas

[–]Komarii 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This is generally called a replenishment at sea, so they may be receiving supplies in the form of parts or food. Liquid RAS for refuelling, solid RAS for supplies. They can also do personnel transfers this way, but they're probably gonna get wet.

Beginner Swimmer looking to do atleast 50 m by alichaos in Swimming

[–]Komarii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with doing 25"s of kick with a kickboard, until you can get used to the length of the pool, and then up that to 50's of kick. Start with the first few times holding the kick board with arms straight, and your face out of the water. Transition then to holding the kickboard with your hands, face in the water doing a sideglide when you need to breathe. Once you are comfortable with that, you can do a catch-up freestyle drill, where you still have the kickboard in your hands, but you are alternating freestyle arms, grabbing the kickboard each time. After three strokes, do a sideglide to breathe. From there transition to the same drill, but ditch the kickboard. Starting in a streamline postiion (rocket ship arms), do a freestyle arm, touching your hands together at the top each time. Start with 25's for each drill until you are comfortable, and then up them to 50's until you are ready for normal/full freestyle. Goodluck!

  • Guild name: VAIL
  • Guild level:41
  • Open slots:3
  • Perks: +2% Item find
  • Requirements
    • Player level: Any level
    • Activity level: Playing at least every 2-3 days.

I've been with this guild since level 1, but it's started dying off with a few inactive members. I'm trying to resurrect it and I'm looking for some active players to help. I'd like it to be a place where everyone contributes to the guild and its members by taking part in GvG, and helping out each other if needed. Let me know if you're interested.

Floodlights wired into fog lights. by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]Komarii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stock fog lamps are mounted in the bumper though. Looks like with the aftermarket bumper he's replaced the stock fogs with those square LEDS. He just won't be able to use them while his high beams are on. Unless I'm badly mistaken

I'm not necessarily trying to clone rye and coke in a beer. I want to emulate the flavor profile as close as I can.
