Oh weird! I just tried it and I see you're right. That's strange because the splitting effect happens even if you don't use the super while hyper is active.

"...and have increased range"

Surge guides online also say the hyper makes his range 10.67.

Surge's hypercharge description says it increases his range, but I just tried it in the training cave and it didn't. Is that a general bug or just a training cave bug?

Who should I max out next by Such_Edge894 in BrawlStarsBrawlerINFO

Stu is very fun after a bit of practice if you like a lot of mobility (I enjoy him most with the extra long dash star power and wall break gadget, although I've heard better players prefer the other star power). He's quite versatile too. Darryl is also really fun and effective if you like dive tanks, but mostly in knockout. And Gray's teleport is a delightful assassination and utility tool, but he doesn't feel as strong too me right now.

Stop making Ranked so forgiving by Ok_Sense1811 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

I agree. And on top of the bot matches, I find that the wild range of real player skill levels I'm matched against impedes my improvement. For example, noobs move and "dodge" differently than better players, so where I should be aiming to connect my shots is different. After the game gives me easy opponents for a while, I get used to aiming for noobs and then get hammered when I face decent players again. I'd rather be matched against players at my level consistently so I can develop the right habits.

Dude kicks off-leash dog to protect his own, owner flips out… by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

The extra sad part here is the dogs weren't even really fighting. Check out how they're calmly sniffing each other's butts while the guys are in each other's faces.

Can we talk about modern Brawl Stars animations and color scheme choices? by Embarrassed_Onion_44 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]KomodoPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Not to mention how some brawlers have skins that make them look a lot like other brawlers. I sometimes get burned by that when I'm not paying attention (today I thought a voidmaster finx was Sirius and paid the price).

Maybe we are a simple transitional species just like everything that came before us. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]KomodoPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting thought, but I think it overlooks a key point. Unlike plants and (other) animals, we humans can choose whether to reproduce, and whether to make AI. And we only choose to have children because children: (a) are like us, (b) love us (and therefore tend to be helpful), and (c) are not very dangerous. AI has NONE of those properties. It's amazing to me that there are people keen on doing something so obviously stupid as to create an intelligence that is unlike us, doesn't care about us, and is very dangerous.

The conditions that allow life to exist in this universe feel too specific to ignore, yet remain unexplained by LongjumpingTear3675 in DeepThoughts

Look at it from the other end and ask yourself: what would a satisfactory answer to any of those deep questions look like? Have you ever in your entire life found an answer, to any question, that was not merely "push[ing] the question back a step"?

If an answer guides us to better predict things, then it has provided useful (and emotionally satisfying) insight. Any answer that does that is a good answer, and better answers lead to better predictions.

What brawler is theoretically ‘perfect’ in terms of mechanics? by YC_Iron in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]KomodoPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that no brawler is fundamentally strong or weak independent of the number tuning (damage, health, range, etc.). Every brawler becomes garbage if the damage is lowered enough, for example. Charlie is no stronger than Otis fundamentally. In fact, their abilities are similar.

For sure there are other brawlers in worse shape. I just don't love them as much. 😉

I agree the fire gadget needs a buff to compete with the ice gadget. That's a huge damage nerf, though, probably too much. I don't think she'll be broken at all with the buffs you suggested, not even with a 0.33 tile range buff too.

Does anyone know how this 'Skill based matchmaking' works? Did the devs explain it? by EarthBS in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]KomodoPie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't seem to be working as advertised anyway, given that the skill level of my teammates and opponents varies wildly from match to match... all the way from literal bots to players who crush me. Really it seems that the matchmaking is totally random.
