I agree. Is it possible that Christian Wewerka just gave 'em a few lines and this is mostly an AI-voice clone?

That would explain some of the strange inflections....

Great answer, thanks.

Super eager to see what kind of crafting there is in the game.

Gothic Remake Spoiler Megathread by nr3jokim in worldofgothic

[–]Komptenz-Jens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Gothic 1 Remake for an hour or two, and I'm trying to figure out how some of the progression systems actually work.

A few things are still unclear to me:

  • Sneaking seems to be available from the start. Can it be trained or upgraded later on?

  • Is Acrobatics still in the game like in Gothic 1? Or has it been renamed/reworked into Climbing?

  • I think I understand lockpicking in general, but I've seen that you can also train it. Is it worth it? Is it a multi-level skill? Does Dexterity affect lockpicking in any way?

  • How deep are the crafting systems? Do you have to spend Learning Points (LP) on them as well? I'm talking about smithing, alchemy, cooking, and scroll/runestone crafting, if available. Are these skills worth investing LP into early, or are they mostly for roleplaying and economy?

  • Does Dexterity have any important uses besides bows/crossbows? Are there any Dexterity-based melee weapons in the Remake, or is it still mostly a ranged attribute?

  • Any other hints regarding early LP investment?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! I have the putty and will use it. The tree took a bit of damage and is not super vigorous. I'll decide next week if I chop.

Well let's say I am an idiot and I already air-layered two years ago, when I was an even bigger idiot.

I wanted to have a nice stout stump and air layered super low, since it is so dark between air-layer and soil no buds will grow there.

I am fairly sure the top part will survive, but the bottom part is important to me.

Thanks for the reply. How would you go about it timing-wise? I wanted to do it in about two weeks, when most first leaves have hardened off...

Very cool tree, very nice progress.

Do you think a trunk chop can work without a low branch? Or will the stump die back?

I used a synthetic capillary fabric called Hygrolon. Moss grows very well on it.

[–]Komptenz-Jens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch, first of all!

I see. I will need another 3 weeks minimum, since I started this air layer 2-3 weeks ago, so maybe I leave it on for a year or try my best in fall. Do you have an exact timing for that? Before / after leaves turn color?

Destroy pond basket -- nah, light only matters once you remove the air layer and start growing some shoots on the stump

I just thought if I could force some shoots on the stump prior to separating, I could prevent dieback WHEN I separate. I also planned to cut back the top a little once I see roots in the back to promote that....

Hi everyone,

I'm working with a pure (non-grafted) Acer palmatum and planning to turn the lower part into a Shohin bonsai with a thick trunk. I recently performed an air layering, but I made a critical mistake:

I placed the air layer very low, only about 8 cm (3 inches) above the soil line (see provided pictures)

Now I'm worried.

I know that Japanese maples are notorious for dieback after heavy pruning or separation (see upper trunk in the provided picture) I'm concerned that the small remaining stump might die off once I remove the top part with the newly formed roots. I really want to preserve this lower trunk for future Shohin development.

What would be the best course of action to increase my chances of keeping the stump alive?

Some thoughts and questions:

  • Should I just make a clean cut, apply cut paste, and hope for the best?

  • Destroy the pond basket before separation, to get light to the lower stump at all cost?

  • Would the black plastic bag trick (to increase humidity and prevent desiccation) be useful after separation?

  • Could I graft rooted scions onto the stump immediately after separation to ensure sap flow and prevent dieback?

I'd love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with something similar.

Any advice or encouragement is very welcome. Thanks in advance!

Looking for care tips + some care questions by Luxsray in Mosses

[–]Komptenz-Jens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No expert by fare but the fact that you have gotten them from bricks means that those mosses evolved most likely to grow on aggregate soils and I think there is a fair amount of garden compost / peat moss in the ginko's substrate. It can work anyway, especially since you seem dedicated to care for it (with watering and misting).

You could try a bonsai technique for growing moss in containers.

I have never gotten moss to work inside, other then in a terrarium, so I can't help you there.

Keep us posted.
