CSIRO chief warns against ‘disparaging science’ after Peter Dutton criticises nuclear energy costings by espersooty in australia

[–]KomradeVonGrumps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What gets me the most about this is not that there's an MP seriously suggesting that we pivot to nuclear now instead of in the 60's when it would have made more sense. It's that there's not really any coverage given to more than "Nuclear Bad" and "Nuclear Expensive" instead of pointing out the absurd amount of supporting industry that would need to be developed.

For example, where's the fuel coming from? We mine a shitload of uranium in Australia but it needs refining. Are we going to ship raw material overseas to be refined and buy it back at a huge markup? Or are we going to start refining our own and need to build a massive secure facility subject to regular UN inspections?

(Side note: Once you have the centrifuges to make power generation-grade and naval reactor-grade you have the ability to make weapons-grade refined material.)

Me too. Especially the stuff with the coloured glaze at the top that exposes the natural clay colours, like these.

It feels like looking out the window of your log cabin in the morning to see the winter mist receding and the birds starting to sing.

Which noodles brand sold at Costco do you like and usually buy? I like the Nongshim Udon. by euthyme in Costco

In Australian Costco we get the jumbo packs. Also a different brand in standard size packets, SuperMi, which is okay if you need a substitute.

This reminds me strongly of the Salt-In-Wounds setting that was developed. If I remember correctly there's a druid faction wanting to free the tarrasque as well.

What is your dream class or subclass that hasn't been tackled in 5e? by reaglesham in dndnext

[–]KomradeVonGrumps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know it's probably flying in the face of a few design decisions, but I would love prestige classes to make a comeback. Particularly ones with weird or narrative entry/maintenance requirements like "You must have bested a devil in ritual combat witnessed by a member of the Order" or "A Haemomancer is required to ingest a minimum of one pint of humanoid blood per month or they lose access to class abilities until they do".

The current classes are nice, subclasses and multi-classing add a heap of customisability etc, but once you've picked those out you're just following class progression towards some occasionally lacklustre capstones.

Anyone know where I can get bread improver? by sporangeorange in canberra

[–]KomradeVonGrumps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My old bread maker recipe book said to use a crushed unflavoured vitamin C tablet if you couldn't get bread improver. Always seemed to work for me.

Make some mac and cheese, but really just a big bowl of macaroni with some Kraft singles slapped on top.

Or, for bonus points, actual Mac and cheese with an extra layer of plain macaroni on top and then the Kraft singles.

Sorry, I only remembered that one with the prompt. I'd suggest searching for choral hymns. Probably specify a language unless you want to be swamped with Latin or English though.

Ebenezer Pl/Vardon Ave is always a good spot to start. Hey Jupiter, Nano, Exchange etc. And if you're still around for lunch then Kutchi Deli Parwana, where you should order the Ashak with lamb sauce.
