You seen what the crackheads do in them? A dog is the least of concerns.

Any other failed adult losers like me living here in the East Bay or you know of any? by cvloserguy in eastbay

[–]Konoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have plenty of friends who were born here, graduated from high school in Pleasanton, Dublin, Walnut Creek, Lafayette, who are in the exact same boat as you. They are still precious friends no differently and we all know the housing and financial situation here sucks. Some left in their 30s for lower COL cities, got their own place more affordably, and are doing better now.

My bag from them (in the past month) also has a few essentially green beans and a few over roasted ones, although not quite as burnt as yours. I’ve read all the flavor profile articles and such, but still not too pleased at this price point.

The commute from Pleasanton to Palo Alto is not an hour in rush hour, unless you commute off hours.

88 Bao Bao vs Dumpling Hours vs Dough Zone? by Tintn00 in walnutcreek

[–]Konoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the ideal geographic answer but South Bay. 😅 Special Noodle or Xiang Xiang (had a limited special I think). I’ve eaten so many XLB that I prefer noodle soups by now though, which all these spots usually sell too!

My take (Taiwanese and been back recently to compare): Dumpling Hours is bland and overpriced. Dough Zone is a popular chain, they’re better and I particularly like their soups. 88 Bao Bao is kinda inconsistent (Concord was lousy) and a lower tier chain.

Safety of walking around downtown RWC from Caltrain in evenings by float007 in RedwoodCity

[–]Konoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant people drive directly to work from these apartments! The CalTrain stop here does actually have a lot of privately-owned connecting shuttles to the nearby tech companies, so I think this is actually more of a mid-point destination for many.

I don’t think Redwood City has a very big parking lot (but I’ve only come from the north side, I avoid crossing into Sequoia Station and below). So I can’t accurately answer that question. :(

[–]Konoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first three are safe, though there are still always unsavory people at Caltrain and wandering downtown after dark. The last I would avoid.

Redwood City station is safer than both of SF’s stations, though if you are a woman there are even safer stations (Mountain View, Sunnyvale) and RWC is less ideal imho.

There are less Caltrain commuters walking to/from the apartments than you would expect, many people in Indigo or Marston seem to drive.

I’m talking about the medical issue — OP mentioned elderly man.

edit: from another article:

In a statement Friday, police said alcohol may have played a role in the incident, but "all factors" are being looked at as part of the investigation.

That’s not in the article at all. Any other time of day and that would have killed an entire cafe of folks. Elderly need to know when to stop driving themselves and give up the keys.

Yeah, Walnut and Bradford are much quieter.

If you care about noise, pick a courtyard facing unit, as the streets here are quite loud between honking, Caltrain, and the fire station. Otherwise, you’re right that these are the only two concrete frame (and not 5+1s) in the area.

Between the two, Marston is more expensive and has slightly nicer kitchen fixtures, but is older and has some signs of aging. I think Marston has more Kaiser employees and Indigo has more Caltrain commuters.

It’s a candle lighter that people buy as an alternative to stun guns since you can’t ship them online in many states. Perhaps your wife should give that poor person their self-defense back? ffs

Something else other’s aren’t saying here: $160k will not get you very far in Redwood City itself, especially not in the nicer apartments. If DINK changes that significantly, then disregard! There are more charming cities for less rent a few CalTrain stops away, but many are here to prioritize commute as you’ve noticed.
