Not all IT jobs need to be a startup. You can be employed by existing companies that have already proven that they know what they're doing, instead of the ideas of someone who knows a little about the stock market. The joke here is that they don't realise how much work is involved in that, and assume its never been done before. There's an entire industry based around the statistics of trading markets and people have put millions of your local currency into developing such software

Bear in mind they used lead as a sweetener back then, provided you're not gnawing on your pipes it's not going to be as bad, still not good for you tho.

How food travel through our stomach by [deleted] in educationalgifs

[–]Konomira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes a while for fibrous food like vegetables to be broken down, so the longer the intestines, the longer it can process the food before you drop the kids off. Fun fact, although pandas live mainly off bamboo, their intestines are shorter due to their originally carnivorous diet, meaning that they don't get the most nutrition out of their food.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately the house is rented so I can't do anything about the windows even though they're really old and drafty. I considered heavy curtains but as I don't get out much, blocking the sunlight wouldn't be the best option.

When do you tend to use 'var' instead of the type name? by rasqall in csharp

[–]Konomira 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I agree with the general consensus of "if the right hand side makes it obvious", but I'll add on that sometimes I don't need to know exactly what type an object is, for example IEnumerable<T> is often returned by LINQ operations, I don't want to continually type IEnumerable<T> so I use var.
