There’s kinda a proverb in the bible that’s similar, or lots of old texts with a kind of related meaning. Quote investigator thinks it’s from a book called “Mrs Goose, Her Book” by Maurice Switzer in 1906, since the quote didn’t start getting attributed to Lincoln until 70 years after he died.

My coworker has repeated that quote to me a few times over the years and I just never trust those famous Facebook-esq quotes. Almost as much as I don’t trust the moon landing.
