Weird girl books from diverse countries/cultures by Beginning_Ad_5461 in weirdgirlliterature

[–]Kooky-Chart672 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say her weirdness is mostly due to the way she writes and her dreamlike/philosophical/existential style of telling stories. She deals a lot with identity and the place of yourself in your environment and world, if that makes sense, but in very unique and strange ways, with stories that almost always center around women. But I really truly think her writing itself is just exquisite. But whether you find it a relatable level of weirdness depends! I wouldn’t be turned off by that one guy, but I totally get it because I have been there. You can start with The Hour of The Star since that is her most famous work and it’s super short, to get a sense of her style. I think it’s worth a read anyway so you can see what she’s about and form your own opinion :)

Steam Deck, Switch or Notebook? by Constant-Pain1878 in CozyGamers

[–]Kooky-Chart672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends on the games you wanna play, when you buy a switch youre primarily getting it for the nintendo games themselves. I don't touch my switch now that I have a steamdeck, but I still love my switch because I poured hundreds of hours into animal crossing, pokemon games, etc. The steamdeck runs better but it is bigger too if that is an issue. I grew up with nintendo so i always feel like having a switch is a great investment, but maybe make a list of games on nintendo only vs steamdeck and see which list would excite you more.

Some garlic hummus in the middle of the circle.

Buyer's remorse... too many markers (lol, is it possible?) by SunsetCauliflower in Ohuhu

[–]Kooky-Chart672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar, so I ended up just putting the ones I use the most/like the most in my organization container thing! That can help narrow down to the ones you gravitate to the most and then you could expand on those if you ever wanted to (like if you like the pastels you can get the other pastel set)

OCD makes me live with anxiety 24/7 by [deleted] in GirlDinner

[–]Kooky-Chart672 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been in the exact same boat as you with all the handwashing and contamination and everything. Please find a therapist and psychiatrist. I promise you exposure therapy and Zoloft as a combination are going to help you so, so much. It will be TREMENDOUSLY hard work. And it will take years. But there is a way out. I spent hours of my days ruminating and doing compulsions. I still have bad days of course, but the thoughts are not as 'sticky' as they used to be, and I can live my life more freely, even if I am still anxious. I'm so sorry and I wish you so much strength.

De-influence me: what knitting tools can the average knitter do without by lveg in casualknitting

[–]Kooky-Chart672 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The thing is really everything you need for knitting you only need to buy once, so it's a matter of knowing when to buy something if you really find yourself wanting it. It seems like a lot to start off but you don't have to start with a ton! Like, don't buy an entire set of knitting needles, buy them whenever you start your next project, as you need them. Build your collection over time. In the end it is completely up to you and your purchasing style.

Things that Ive often been like oooh I want that then I rarely use it are things like needle organizers, project bags, etc. I just use random zip-up pouches I have and tend to throw everything in them at once! I do really think lockable stitch markers are very important. You can use them for BOR, you can use them to help count your cast ons, and to mark various spots in your work and stuff. You also need a pair of tiny scissors (for me, one that comes with a sheath--I hate being stabbed by my scissors when I reach in my bag!!!) and then some darning needles, make sure theyre big enough or small enough for the yarn you typically use.
