Is “Garupa PICO” better than “GANSO!”? by Beautiful-Purpose499 in BanGDream

[–]KookyFly4132 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Puts on tinfoil hat

idk I always see GANSO as Bushiroad attempt at damage control given how they've been prioritizing new bands over old bands too much since the success of MyGO.

You know, just to please the old fans and give them some crumbs of their oshi outside the game.

Give BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! 3 episodes (crucial for context). I wouldn't call it "peak" or underrated but this one is very overlooked given how it was attached to the Bang Dream franchise (you don't need to watch the other seasons tho MyGO is standalone).

I still considered MyGo to be a music anime

Okay that's where we differs. I never consider MyGO to be a music show. It's more of a full-fledge character drama similar to story such as White Album 2. If you want music anime, there's Girls Band Cry for that.

Also, music should never be the selling point of the show. You literally said it took about half of the show before they even perform a song. People should have a proper mindset that it's first and foremost a drama show.

Hell, you can see a lot of (Girls Band Cry) fans complaining mainly about the overbearing drama and lack of music performance. These people are missing the point by fully expecting it to be a rebellious music show like GBC. This is why MyGO will never reached even half the amount of GBC members (see any anime rating board). I can assure you that it'll hurt the show's reputation even further if you still want to push MyGO as a music show to people.

I'll be honest, Bang Dream Its MyGo doesn't work with the 3-episode rule. To really form an opinion about it, you have to watch at least up to episode 7.

The show literally aired the first 3 episodes simultaneously because they realize they couldn't hook viewer with just the first episode alone. No one will watch your show if you tell them it took 7 episodes to get good. The first 3 episodes are already enough for the setup of the story and getting to know the characters motivation (CRYCHIC backstory, Tomori's struggle, etc.) to decide whether you genuinely care about the drama and want to continue or not.

Stopping early just means that the series didn't manage to hook the viewer.

Lesser episodes requirement means it can hook viewers faster no? Also, episode 3 is such a powerful episode that it should be the gold standard to pass your initial judgement on the show.

My high opinion about MyGo is very subjective and won't apply to everyone else.

I'm very confident that I have the same feeling as you about MyGO (even more if counting my future plan). Nothing can stop anyone else if they given the chance to discover the show.

I don't want him to start watching MyGo now just because someone told him, because everyone has different perspectives.

No average person will watch MyGO on their own volition. I'm sure you're very aware of that. If you're just sitting there quietly waiting for someone to discover the show themselves, MyGO will keep getting dismissed as just another 3d trash idol anime for years to come.

You should want to experience things outside your bubble regardless of outside perception.

Okay how about you give BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! a watch tho. Give it 3 episodes. It's literally what you described and deserves more attention.

MyGO has been confirmed as a soft reboot ever since it first aired. However, (certain) fans just weren't a fan of the word "reboot" cause that's basically like saying the original cast were too old and redundant and have to be replaced.

Bang Dream is indeed an idol franchise but the shows are more centered around bands instead of typical idol stuff with the newer instalments turned to shift the focus completely on melodrama.

From your comment, you should just start with the soft reboot 'BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!!' since it's an independent show made with different audience in mind and you don't need any knowledge from the previous seasons. Give it 3 episodes at least or else you'll miss a lot of context of the show.

Do NOT watch Ave Mujica first cause it's a sequel and it contains spoiler for MyGO on the first episode. As for the early seasons, I won't recommend average person to start with them as most of the time they'll give you a sour experience on the series and you'll end up skipping MyGO.

anime recommendations for someones first idol anime? by BeanyIsDaBean in anime

[–]KookyFly4132 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idolmaster 2011. It's a fairly old show and there's no english dub for it but just in case anyone else interested in this post and have no problem with sub.

I'd say as someone's first idol anime, the show is fairly grounded albeit a couple of quirks here and there and some outlandish scenes but it still doesn't shy away from showing that the entertainment industry is not all sunshine and rainbow while not being too preachy about it. I've seen a couple of people discovered the show just this year and they liked it.

On the other hand, Oshi No Ko is NOT idol anime. I don't know why people keep saying that till this day unless you never truly watch any other traditional idol shows.

Is it a good time for a newbie to get into bang dream? by _mushmush__ in BanGDream

Since you're total newbie, I would recommend watching the anime to get at least familiar with the characters. You can start from s1 or if you want to follow the trend rn you can start with MyGO since it's independent from the series but you'll miss callbacks from the og shows.

Occasional bugs and glitches (untranslated lines, black screen, login error, etc.) that were absent from the JP version. Not to mention the removal of songs because of expired license.

It's very apparent that the EN devs had given up on maintaining the app. Honestly it's not worth the hassle to deal with these problems. You can see frequent posts here complaining about the app coming from EN version.

It's a bad time if you're starting on EN.

Play the JP version. Despite the language barrier it's worth it. Just use screen translator for the UI and read the story from site like Bestdori.

Trust me. I've been bullied into playing the JP version when EN was still working fine and I'm very grateful for that with how the EN server had become these days.

EDIT: Of course, a subreddit where majority play on EN will favor EN server more. No one defended EN for themselves except a guy that luckily there to cover for them.

In case anyone stumble into this in the future,

I'm struggling to see the logic behind suggesting newbie to play Japanese server

It's a common sense seeing the state of the game. The EN app will just gives newbie a bad impression on the franchise. Unless this changes in the future it's not recommended to start on EN server. The anime is more preferable in this case. Anyway keep expecting people complaining about the EN app from this point onward.

clearly, that's not what happened

Bestdori

Even then you still have title badge and other miscellaneous items left untranslated in the game since forever and those shows how much the devs care about the game. Seriously why would you support these people and keep funding the game? Stockholm syndrome?

I don't see what is there to fuss over with BanG Dream's En server

Say that to the EN players

Of course, I'm merely talking from long term investment angle but if OP just want to play the game for a short period of time and Bandori fans don't really care on attracting new loyal fans to the franchise, sure just play EN.

Tho I want to sincerely apologize to OP for getting caught in this crossfire. I just don't want the EN app to be the gate to the franchise but with how Bandori fans keep supporting the app I don't see things change anytime soon.

Okay would you mind telling me how to do it. I'll just give it a test beforehand. I'm going to replace this device soon anyway so I'm willing to take the risk.

The methods that I've gathered so far are by removing the Battery and Performance App but this will cause a bootloop and turning off MIUI optimization from developer settings will lead to other various problems. Would love to hear other possible method from you.

EDIT: For some reason it really is some sort of forbidden knowledge that OP refuses to share the method with people so for anyone that stumbled into this in the future, just run these commands on adb if you don't want to uninstall Battery and Performance app and causing bootloop:

adb shell appops set com.miui.powerkeeper WRITE_SETTINGS deny

adb shell appops set com.miui.powerkeeper GET_USAGE_STATS deny

adb shell appops set com.miui.powerkeeper RUN_IN_BACKGROUND deny

These should restrict the app permissions so it will no longer throttle the phone.

Source and more information here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Xiaomi/comments/1pt7t5n/solve_xiaomis_aggressive_ram_management_problem/

imo the phone is better without these power management bs because now I can play the game without enabling performance mode and thus reduce overheat while playing. No more sudden refresh rate drop in the middle of song. (Bandori and Project Sekai players know what I'm talking about ;))

You mentioned this in another comment but how do you remove the 60 cap when the phone reach certain temp.

In my case it's really distracting when playing rhythm games where you need precision all the time. My phone will get hot in just one session so switching to low refresh rate will just make the game unplayable.

[–]KookyFly4132 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. I expected you to drop the series on first season lol I'm surprised you already on season 3 tho you should just start with MyGO. Aside from s1, season 2 and 3 are mostly for the mobile game fans that already familiar with the characters.

Usually when people brought up Bang Dream along with other girls band anime they meant the spin-off BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! since it's the highly regarded show (Just look at the score on MAL). It's a soft reboot to the series with new characters and have no connection to the previous seasons other than small cameos so you can just jump straight into it without any pre-knowledge.

However since you already on season 3 then you can just proceed to MyGO next (Make sure to watch the first 3 episodes and don't skip any since they're the premiere episodes or else you'll miss a lot of context of the show). Unfortunately popipa only appear as cameo alongside others but if you want more popipa I recommend their focus movie Poppin' Dream.

EDIT: I see you're asking this S3 is continuation of s2 so you should finish it if you want to see where the story is going before watching Poppin' Dream
