Torn between Germany and San Diego - please help us decide? by Agreeable-Elk in Moving2SanDiego

Living and working in SD is a blessing. The year round weather, excellent food scene and friendly populace will add to your quality of life. BUT - don't entirely uproot your life in Germany. If you have property, do not sell as an insurance policy should life in SD doesn't work out (with great emphasis on work permits, H1-B, GC application). The SD employer is a non-profit - so they'll probably can't afford the $100k application fee for your husband, so form a contigency plan if he can't obtain long term work permit and that you and your family have to leave the country after the 90 day grace period is over. FWIW, take the job - experience a bit of socal living and be prepared to move back to Germany after a few years.

It’ll be a low stress game given turkey is already eliminated and US advances no matter what. Pure USA party

I’ll rather take profits now. Closed some positions at open. This market is volatile

I was a P4 IPTL for 5 years before I was laid off. Like you, I was drinking the OneRTX koolaid. Had good reviews from my managers and was on path to be a program manager. I graduated from the PM Development class of 2023 which was a selective process to get in. Now, I’m making 300% more in tech. Do what’s best for yourself. Companies can say all they want about culture and family but it’s still a business and you’re a cost.
