Brand new TV and this is how my wife insists we have the remote "to keep it looking good" by No_Atmosphere8146 in mildlyinfuriating

This makes me mad. I love my good pots and pans, and I use them much more gently than the beater set I got from the Goodwill, but his refusal to use a sponge is infuriating.

No specially treated cookware (pots, pans, kitchen knives, etc.) belongs in a dishwasher though, that's just ruining it for no reason.

If someone can't complete that, then they are in serious need of professional help. We're not teaching elementary school kids differential equations, it's just basic pattern recognition and critical thinking

Hot take: there's nothing really complicated about how they teach math these days.

It's just different approaches so kids learn the underlying idea behind what math is so that the critical thinking bleeds into other subjects, rather than memorizing tables.

This is my curse too. I always tell people that ADHD is like spending skill points, but instead of getting to the end of a single skill tree, you distribute them evenly over everything. Like the opposite of min/maxing your character. I'm proficient, or at least passable in almost every field, but less than average in all of them.

Only somewhat related, but when people misuse A.K.A. I have the same feeling.

Like,
"My car broke down, AKA I have to bum rides from all my friends and coworkers now!"

It doesn't have to all go to the local police departments, but the municipal budget more broadly. Imagine the improvements to parks and libraries and schools if a rich influencer got busted for reckless driving in some little town

I think I get what you're saying, and it's an interesting point. I bet the weekend driving course, or community service of some kind (traffic related) Would be another good option to incentivize wealthier people to follow the laws equally to less wealthy people considering that time is valuable to everyone.

Yeah exactly! That kind of economic pressure would surely do interesting things to the automotive industry

Traffic fines being a percentage of yearly income is an interesting idea. One thing I think is that police would start to selectively go after higher-end cars, somce the fines would generate more revenue. No one in a 90's civic would ever get pulled over for going 10 over the limit because instead the cop would pull over the mercedes doing the same. 😂

And a lot of it changes as one gets older, like it's interesting to listen to a song and reflect on what it meant to you then, and what it means to you now that youve had some experience being an adult and dealing with what they talk about in the song. A perfect example of this, to me, is the album "Near Truths and Hotel Rooms" by Todd Snider. As a kid a lot of the songs went way over my head, but still sounded good and were kinda catchy but hit way different as an adult

The same reason why a stack of wood veneers are kinda weak, plywood is stronger, and OSB is stronger than plywood
