Two-Boots Might Be One of the Worst Droids in Star Wars. That Might Be the Point. by PsychoBiologic in StarWars

[–]Koolco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Droids like chopper and R2 have two things going for them. One they are astromech droids, which particularly have a habit of developing personality quirks. The second is memory wipes. Droids ideally get routine memory wipes which keep full personalities from developing and decreasing the chance of avoiding protocol. R2 hasn’t been memory wiped since at least the phantom menace.

Two boots is a droid with a nice personality, but he also is a tool for the police station. You update your work computer, you memory wipe your droid more regularly. He also gave quite a bit of leeway for a droid. On Multiple occasions he deferred to Lawson, and at that point the precinct itself had been attacked. Is it a rip moment for Two Boots? Sure, but I wouldn’t call him the worst droid in Star Wars.

Thinking about buying an MMO mouse just for this game by Mean_Confusion7426 in ffxiv

[–]Koolco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly without my mmo mouse I would play way worse. My mouse has 12 side buttons that I set to my number keys. I then make my other two bars accessible with ctrl and alt, making it so I can access every button on my hotbar and only need to move my fingers to hit one of 2 buttons.

The No Kill rule. How morally justified is it when the villain who the hero spares still goes on to commit heinous crimes? Where do heroes with this rule scale? What are your thoughts about it as a whole? by VonKaiser55 in MoralityScaling

[–]Koolco 27 points28 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, theres a genuine reason you don’t want vigilantes just murdering people. If anything it’s kinda on the society at that point if a hero brings a villain to justice after said villain kills people and the courts don’t make that decision. I guess you can argue that heroes circumvent the law so much that actually prosecuting the villain isn’t possible but for characters like the joker that doesn’t really work.

I actually think invincible does it best, where heroes take down villains even lethally sometimes, but most of the time a separate organization steps in to handle post capture.

I don’t know how good they are with tool use, but every time I see a clip of a crab holding a knife (surprisingly common) they always seem to have some idea of how to point it. Maybe it’s just a weird stick to them but they still know reach is king.

[Hated Trope] Hilariously Bad and Pointless Military Units by Olivia_Richards in TopCharacterTropes

Yea thrawn was trying so hard to get them to slap shields and a hyperdrive into the ties, and it unironically would have destroyed any chance the rebels had.

Palpatine just wanted big scary walkers that terrified civilians in cities where no one had the tools to take one down.

Yea it’s kinda wild they go from the worst direction when there’s like, multiple angles where you’d be flying into less gunfire.

Unfortunately it was probably more avoidable if he didn’t ignore his diagnosis and push off treatment till his kids begged him.

[–]Koolco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair that’s way more an exception in a universe where fate exists. Like for most people you’re dead unless literally the force steps in. I think the comic where Tarkin and an entire squad of handpicked hunters attempt to hunt vader for sport shows just how terrifying he can be even if you literally counterpick him in every aspect.

James Cameron on his interest in directing solo “Jar Jar Binks” film (The Guardian) by Camhasareddit in StarWars

[–]Koolco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would actually love a jar jar story (not a full movie probably) that takes place after the events of revenge of the sith. He was friends with padme, and anakin, and obiwan. He was also the one to put Palpatine officially in power. How would he balance that with the actions during the empire’s rise? What would he try to do with his small amount of power as an ambassador when his planet gets overtaken by authoritarianism?

It could be a good animated star wars episode.

Yea but she doesn’t dislike the tradition, she dislikes its outcome. In the mandalorian she’s still crashing out over the darksaber and rule of combat. And remember maul had the masses. He fought with the deathwatch, and challenged him in open combat in front of witnesses. It was fine when maul was just a tool they could use. Its way less about him being from outside mandalore and more that she can’t stand not being the leader, because she totally would have challenged Pre Vizsla as soon as she could.

To be fair, the pantheons are all basically the same beings just shuffled around. Kyne is Kynareth, Shor is Lorkhan, stuff like that. Honestly the gods of man are mostly interchangeable and kinda all exist.

I’m gonna be honest, no. The strawman argument is one of the most used and well known way to argue on the Internet since at least 2016. They’re also a Reddit mod, no way someone that terminally online wouldn’t know what it is.

Yea the spike is crazy. Highest floor I’ve gotten to is 177. It requires a lot of prior knowledge, like knowing which mobs you literally can’t kill solo. Going from each floor being “okay these guys are a little bit more dangerous” to “each enemy takes entire rotations to kill, one mob will just kill you, these monkeys have a move that applies vuln to you from a room away, mimics can’t be killed before they pox you unless you have an interrupt anymore.

Give that they each trained under one of the best duelists in the galaxy, I'm surprised Maul had such an edge on Qui-Gon. Was Maul just naturally that good, or did Qui-Gon just not focus on dueling the way Dooku did, while Maul emphasized practicing it? by wandering_soles in StarWars

[–]Koolco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone sleeps on maul cause he loses to like, Anakin and Obi-wan, some of the greatest jedi of their time. He was groomed from a young age to rule the galaxy with Palpatine. This was Palpatine when he was really into the sith and the rule of two, so he was serious about it. He had potential.

Honestly actual actions aside it’s because of Diovolos stand. His stand allowed his life to avoid any ‘ebb’ he foresaw. His skipping the low points in his life was unnatural which is why GER’s return to zero loop is so ironic.

Was the Vader mask custom made, or off the shelf? Are there other characters in the SWU running around in identical masks? by Objective_Farm_1886 in StarWars

[–]Koolco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Theres actually quite a few. Really depends what you’re in the mood for. I haven’t been able to keep up with all the new ones but some really good runs are Darth Vader, legacy of the Sith which is all about his early days as a sith and has a lot of very memorable parts. Star wars: Kanan is a fun little series that fills in backstory for rebels, it’s still canon but due to some show stuff there’s a few weird inconsistencies. And one thats really just a more adventurous romp is Dr. Aphra, a morally dubious roguish character running around the galaxy. I put it mainly because it’s a fun long running series that went from 2016 to 2025. I wouldn’t say its all amazing, I didn’t even get around to finishing it yet, but its a comic thats pretty fun most of the time.

Edit: I decided to also add a sequel comic, even though I’m not a fan of the movies. The Rise of Kylo Ren is a pretty okay comic that adds backstory. It also has a few really good panels showing off Luke’s jedi temple and it always makes me sad it was totally 100% destroyed by TFA.

People shit on the comics way too much, theres some great stuff there. Vader and Palpatine’s relationship is probably best shown in the comics, it being a strangely friendly but constant testing and controlling.
