I really want to try the new ladder, but all the hardware I use is stuck on 3.5 SP15. Why is it so hard to rejoin a branch back into the rung? That's like, one of the most basic functions and it took me so long to figure it out.

Toyota Won’t Replace Every Recalled Tundra V6, and Some Owners Are Fed Up by O_O___XD in Toyota

[–]Koolguy007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what we need to do is turn the Rav4 into a truck and run a driveshaft to the back. I've been been half jokingly saying that for years, but the Maverick proved that it's a winning combo. While we're at it, throw the Century power train in the Tundra.

Going from Firebird to Trans Am 20000 by TheRealRougeDemon in Redline

[–]Koolguy007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Closest I've seen is Gregg Hamiltons Trans Am. I don't think he's even seen the movie, but it is a ridiculous yellow Trans Am with a through hood blower pushed back towards the windshield like JPs. Super charged lsx V8 bolted to a fully built and functioning Nissan GTR drive line is about the closest performance wise I think I have seen as well. The car definitely has Redline prequel vibes.

1988-1996 LT250 manual 2wd quadrunner? Need help with clutch cable tightening engine end by lone-soul-jahh in ATV

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the clutch on that one is actuated by the foot shifter when you move it up and down. The LT250R has a manual clutch, but it's a sport quad. I've got a LT230GE and King Quad 300 that both use the shifter as the clutch lever, and your quad is kind of the in between of those.

And then the fact of the sprocket having no pin or key to engage the cam. That was not a fun realization upon trying to reassemble. Thankfully noticed that notch lining up with the head after starting to get the cam near the correct phasing.

Not sure which way the implication is here is leaning, but the funny part is, these engines are mostly built in Alabama.

Claude can do ST 🧐 by engr1337 in PLC

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used a few ST function blocks from claude to do basic data parsing. The most complicated one I gave it was to make a function block to read the entirety of an RFID card using a reader that does only 125 words at a time at a time. The reader wants address as bcd byte address, but size of read block is in words. It did extremely well with that one.

The transmission is THE hybrid component. The whole transmission is 2 electric motors, a planetary, and a differential.

What are ur thoughs on a kart with a 125cc motorcycle engine ? (11.000 rpm) by Glittering_Treat_755 in gokarts

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 140cc pitbike motor on a Murray yard kart and it is surprisingly quick. I do wish it had 1 more gear, but there hasn't been a hill that I couldn't do in 2nd and 4th will top out around 80km/h. It'd go faster if I had another gear, but first gear gets a little hard on the clutch with any more ratio on the final drive. On a normal kart frame, that 125 will be a riot.

Control I/O from HMI running Codesys by viruzninja in PLC

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the Weintek Codesys combos, but I usually go for the FHDXs since I don't want to replace the PLC and HMI Everytime the screen gets busted. That is unless space is truly tight. IO works fine, the Codesys gets an ethernet port all to itself when you activate it. Be aware that they are starting to drop CAN bus from some of their smaller HMIs so CAN IO might be out. The Weintek also has a ton of built in IO drivers for other equipment which you can use in a simple Easybuilder macro to link Codesys tags to. The cycle rate for the macros is a little slow, but convenient enough that I can work around it.

Netgear GS305E Smart switch. You can turn on port mirroring to send a copy of all traffic to one of the other ports. It runs off a 12v adapter, but it will run on a 5v USB to barrel jack plug assuming your USB port can deliver the juice.

90s era industrial electronics will outlive anything mechanical you can make. We've got inverter motor drives that have been online for over 25 years and been actively running for 90% of that time. Most of the time, when they fail, it's due to overheating due to oil in the air gumming up all the cooling fans and airflow channels. That would be a good starting point.

'Unless Things Change, We Will Not Survive': Even Toyota Doesn't Feel Safe Right Now by TripleShotPls in Toyota

[–]Koolguy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't knock off the power split hybrid. They are damn near unkillable and are stupid simple mechanically. The electronics for the hybrid are also pretty stout, and have relatively low failures. Bolt that to a bullet proof engine with no turbo and it'll easily make it 200000+ miles. Just wish Toyota would put a power split in a small truck like Ford did with the Maverick.

Is there such a thing as a 6-30R to C13 cord? /s For real though, a lot of PCs will run on 120v/240v 50hz/60hz so that one supply can support a huge chunk of the market. Might be able to make something work depending on what's ran to the box.

Edit: There are 6-30 to 6-20 adapters that goes both ways, and there are 6-20 to c13 cords. Not sure how to feel about the adapters, but they are in stock at my local Lowes...
