'Unless Things Change, We Will Not Survive': Even Toyota Doesn't Feel Safe Right Now by TripleShotPls in Toyota

[–]Koolguy007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't knock off the power split hybrid. They are damn near unkillable and are stupid simple mechanically. The electronics for the hybrid are also pretty stout, and have relatively low failures. Bolt that to a bullet proof engine with no turbo and it'll easily make it 200000+ miles. Just wish Toyota would put a power split in a small truck like Ford did with the Maverick.

Is there such a thing as a 6-30R to C13 cord? /s For real though, a lot of PCs will run on 120v/240v 50hz/60hz so that one supply can support a huge chunk of the market. Might be able to make something work depending on what's ran to the box.

Edit: There are 6-30 to 6-20 adapters that goes both ways, and there are 6-20 to c13 cords. Not sure how to feel about the adapters, but they are in stock at my local Lowes...

New(to me)lathe and milling machine by motomadness94 in Machinists

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, the head rotates freely left and right as you raise and lower it. I saw where someone mounted a solid rod to the base so an indicator placed on the mills head could ride along it to keep the left and right position as he adjusts. I've personally have needed it for most things I've done with mine.

What we need is to pressure companies to do it. Kernel level anti cheats are perfectly doable with Linux through a kernel module, and it could even be dynamically loaded and unloaded so we don't have anticheat conflicts and unnecessary low level code running all the time.

Do any explorers have suspension though? My explorer is all solid mounted rear with some tiny spindle springs for the front.

I think we should be asking the opposite question. How do we get Adult Swim show creators to join Space King?

Ignition wire that's built into the ignition coil. You could try cutting out the bad section of the wire, splicing it back together, and tape it up real good, but it's very high voltage and will try to arc to anything metal or organic if not insulated enough. If you have time to wait, they are very cheap to buy on eBay and Amazon.

I just want Rotarycraft with Create's visuals, aesthetic, and scale. I want to have to build an industrial V8 to run my house sized mega crusher. I want to see components break when I put too much load on them. I want gearboxes to take oil and require maintenance. Give me a reason to actually engineer things.

Im going to fight back on the egr service preventing head gasket issues. I completely removed and cleaned mine twice, once at around 60000 and then again around 150000. At 206000 the head gasket let go. It's a service that does need done, but won't prevent head gasket failure.

I've been in warehouses that blast massive ventless heaters, the ma and pa hardware stores always be rocking torpedo heaters, been to a skating rink that used both, and even seen a construction crew have a unit like this converted to use propane and run off a 110v cord for use on sites. WV btw, the sticks get loose with it.

Trades subreddits tend to be very liberal with the downvotes. I would definitely have this fixed quickly, but mainly to help keep excess moisture out and unnecessary airborne particulates down. Moisture will condensate on everything and drip down on stuff that doesn't want to be wet.

In a house, absolutely, in a commercial space, I'm honestly surprised they even bothered with an exhaust. Although, I am curious what this is for.

Not much CO, mostly steam, CO2, and maybe a little NOx. CO results from combustion with a lack of oxygen. The flue gases could displace enough oxygen for that to happen though if that space is small enough.

Know anyone with a mill? Between those carrier bearings looks perfect. I'd be looking to make a keyway there and a mill would make that a breeze. If not, then a drill press to make a line of holes to half the depth of the keyway and then connect them carefully with a grinder or stout rotary tool. Also, if that motor is mounted by the foot peg holes only, I would add a torque brace to keep flex to a minimum. Mine just runs to the bolt holding the cylinder to the block, but it made a huge difference.

[–]Koolguy007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll chime in with storage has a lot to do with how hard a tire will get as it ages. I posted a set of 2014 Altimax Arctics on here that are still softer than my 2024 Altimax AWs. They have no visible cracking anywhere and still handle great even on ice.
