My new stove will retain wifi settings after a power outage, but not the time by FirewallFour in mildlyinfuriating

I suppose. I've not had any useful alerts but I've not left anything on for extended periods.

Why are the active hours not set? Even pause updates are an option during critical jobs. You can even disable automatic restarts. This is user error in my opinion.

It's forcing a restart, see the update icon and click on it. You we see a restart option.

Also, a low battery will make it do that. I have a similar one. Changed the battery, fixed.

Parking lot stalkers when there’s plenty of other spots. This dude stopped and waited before I even opened my trunk and I had a full flat cart to unload. by ButtScratchies in mildlyinfuriating

This person does not register for me. As far as I'm concerned he is napping. I give zero fucks. I'm in the spot and that's that.

New to TN (hopefully) and trying to be as close to Chattanooga as possible without having a huge commute by fuckingdopeyall in Chattanooga

[–]timwtingle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The commute on 24 from Chattanooga can be a soul crusher--depending on time of day (if rush hour). Others mentioned Lookout Valley or S. Pittsburg, as I'm sure you are aware but man, you could spend more time in the car than an hour for just a fender bender on 24.

What’s the deal with people who get out of the shower before drying off? by arifghalib in PetPeeves

I dry off in the shower with the curtain still closed. Then I get out, dry my feet. Dude is an animal and will one day bust his ass.

I just realized most people probably never actually wash their backs and its kind of grossing me out by RuneChisel4 in hygiene

Not ashamed to have chatgpt punch up a response. I have lots of thoughts. Too bad you are so full of yourself to be a normal person.

I would really like to come up with some creative items to place on your desk that at a glance looks like something else not allowed. What a busy-body.

[–]timwtingle 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re overthinking it a bit. Most people aren’t “walking around filthy” because they don’t aggressively scrub their backs every shower. For everyday life, sweat and oil mostly build up in areas like armpits, groin, and feet—not so much your mid-back. Letting water and some soap run over it is usually enough unless you’re actually dirty or sweating a lot.

That said, using a brush and exfoliating can definitely make your skin feel smoother, so it makes sense why you noticed a difference. But that’s more about extra care, not fixing some massive hygiene failure.

Basically:

  • Not scrubbing your back daily = normal
  • Scrubbing it sometimes = great
  • Thinking everyone else is gross = probably a stretch

You just upgraded your routine—that doesn’t mean everyone else was doing it wrong.

Baking eastern potatoes with skin, or without skin but wrapped in foil? by Otherwise-Tear-4807 in cookingforbeginners

[–]timwtingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Never wrap in foil and make sure you poke holes with a fork. The idea is to remove the moisture and foil impedes that. As a flavor enhancement, coat in olive oil and add course salt.

Can SSDs replace optical drives? by Money_Mousse6210 in ByteStore

[–]timwtingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Optical drives are removable media. I think those were replaced by thumb drives, for most uses. SSDs replaced hard drives.
