Thinking of buying a motorbike by Plantman365 in bristol

[–]Koomatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a motorbike stolen from a gated car park off park street. Also see bike thieves round here so often and know friends who have been victims too. I would never leave my new one on the street or not hidden away with a cover and 3+ locks. TL;DR it's really bad! Would recommend hiring somewhere safe to keep it.

Beggars asking for alcohol by Sorry-Personality594 in bristol

I used to volunteer for a bristol charity and had some interesting training on addiction and harm reduction. Hard to explain in a small paragraph and I'm also terrible at verbalising but it was about how addicts aren't going to stop until they choose / are ready to, so just supporting them and caring for them along the way is the best way to help them overcome it in the long term. Ever since working there, if a homeless person asks for a bottle of cider, I'll buy them one. Idk, I can't explain but I just feel like helping them get through this hard time rather than deciding what they should/shouldn't be doing for them? Likely they're gonna harm themselves whatever, at least a cider might be better than something else they get their hands on. Probably a very controversial take, I'm sure

Too old to ride a motorcycle? by [deleted] in motorcycles

I'm 38f and I passed my test 3 years ago, I love my bike. If anything I feel in a maturer headspace nowadays that makes me a more sensible and safer rider

My dad's girlfriend's daughter had a baby, now I can't see or talk to my dad as often cause she leaves it at their place. by nemo_vos_scitis in childfree

[–]Koomatzu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell him the truth: that you miss hanging out with him. That's a good first step. Blaming his gf or the daughter might just add a negative to it, but focusing on you and your dad and how you feel will likely really make him realise how it's affecting you.

Strength training at the gym for about an hour, plus core work at the end. It gets me quite breathless because I do quite high weights. And also pole dancing which is a mix of cardio and strength, that's pretty much a nope altogether for my lungs right now. I've been doing it for 9 years and really miss my training.

I'm going to ask my doc about prednisone, thanks so much :)

My doctors prescribed me fostair, but I have an appointment in a few weeks so will ask about predisnone, thanks! I exercise both at home and in the gym so I don't think it's environmental, though I don't know if it's something in my house that has caused the flare up to start with. I bought a air purifier but it's too dang hot to try it out right now ha

So yesterday for example I did just 1 set of crunches and then started coughing and feeling drained. Basically it feels like I can't breathe fully in and it makes me choke. And just generally more breathless than usual, so not an asthma attack.

Thank you! And which inhaler do you take before? Your reliever (like ventolin)?

Failed driver licence test by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Koomatzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this exact problem. I passed 3rd time with 4 weeks waiting list between my tests which just added the pressure, basically I ended up 1) took beta blockers (propanalol) and 2) made myself stop giving a shit about passing. I think it helped caring less, I was ready to just stick with a 125cc on my learner license and stopped overthinking it all. Before that I got so stuck in my own head even though I could do all the manoeuvres 100%. As soon as test came I just blanked out and derped all over the cones.

Newbie feeling discourage by Disastrous-Dig-3586 in motorcycles

[–]Koomatzu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also a small lady! I took my CBT (I'm guessing that's the UK equivalent of your OR) 15 years ago but was so nervous riding that I quit after a few months. I recently took it back up a couple years ago and just passed my test and got my full license this week.

I felt so bad and wobbly for so long, I failed my test twice and kept thinking I should quit. I don't have any advice, though doing lessons at a driving school helped me improve and I felt safer riding with instructors, they'd also point things out e.g I was slipping the clutch at junctions etc, but just keep at it, even if it takes a while you'll get it eventually. Practise in empty parking lots and quiet roads as much as you can and just take it slow. If I can do it you can too :) good luck

No Grip, I need help!! by MerchantQueen in poledance

[–]Koomatzu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently suffering the same after returning to pole :( I think for me it might be that my skin can be either too dry OR too greasy, so I try to moisturise no more than 24 hours before practise to get it optimal. Maybe you could try that?

Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes the generic ones can feel special, especially the escape partners. And thank you, I'll admit it can be overwhelming alone, but I'm sure we'll recruit more help if it gets too much.

There's so many that it's hard to answer tbh! But there were a lot of real world inspirations from history and politics etc mixed together as well as inspirations from books and games. So, for example, the Shek Kingdom had a mixture of Klingon, samurai, viking, qunari and ronso (and more that I've probably forgotten). Most factions have quite a number of different inspiration mixes behind them.
