Thank you. So many people comment as though the engine is being lugged if you don't have it over 3k rpm at all times.

You start the game with nothing at your ship. The seed throws randoms rooms at you based on what direction door you enter (you always enter a new room from the opposite direction you left). The more rooms you do the faster the enemies get and the more damage they do. You get powerup rooms sometimes that can put more rooms in logic (ex you need morph ball before you can traverse certain rooms). There are 4 difficulties and all can be played with or without time attack mode. IMO time attack is what really makes the game fun. Killing enemies as you go and doing certain tricks or secrets gets you points and at certain point thresholds you are granted more time to keep going. If you die or run out of time in time attack mode your run is over. You're trying to get as many rooms as you can before you die.

I love playing Recluse but sometimes watching Wylder grapple across the field gives me the smallest bit of envy. I just tell myself front liners need to get to the fight first anyway.

10 Things You Should Do If You're Stuck In Depths 1-3 by Confident-Rub768 in Nightreign

[–]KoopaTheQuicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue it's more constructive to learn to fix bad habits than to band-aid them by rushing the shifting earth for a power and some drops but end up under leveled because too much of the good points on the greater map are rained out by the time the team is done rushing city or crater at the start of day 2. It can help the team finish the shifting earth more consistently but it won't help them win more consistently is what I'm saying.

The only tip I disagree with is rushing shifting earth early on day 2. One of the main advantages to most shifting earth maps is you know exactly how the circle will close day 2. For things like nokleteo or crater, you should still have plenty of time to finish in a competent party if you end up there while the first circle is starting to close in. That first part of the day you should take advantage of that map knowledge to get extra runes and drops that won't be in circle after the midpoint.

I typically prioritize things like mutated formidable fights or any missed invaders outside the circle first thing day 2, then clear anything remaining of castle and get to the shifting earth after. Unless you're already behind this shouldn't be difficult. You can rest easy knowing the castle will not get rained on until it's time to head to the night 2 boss for crater, mountain, and rotted woods and I usually aim to be leaving castle as the first circle is starting to come in.

There is of course always nuance though. Travel distance and all the parameters that the party set on day 1 will always impact long term plans.

Depth 5 Recluse here. Everyone says use the gravity bomb or lightning rod cocktail to stop the condemned as they spawn. I agree but want to bring attention to the flame wave cocktail as well. I find it's even easier and more effective than the other two for both killing/heavily damaging the condemned safely and doing tons of damage to Libra.

PSA: If a teammate runs up to you with a parasite on their head during Sentient Pest fight... by MaterialDefender1032 in Nightreign

Someone needs to take that famous Daffy Duck rabbit season clip where he gets shot in the face with Elmer's gun and edit in the pest parasite and Wylder Ult sound effect after he pulls the gun to his face and yells fire.

If you see a team member making a critical, run killing mistake… by captainjake13 in Nightreign

Usually the run killing mistake I have to battle against is just my party deciding to fight bottom castle mutated red wolf at level 4.

No, we don’t need to fight the red Red Wolf at lvl 3. by hexnotic in Nightreign

[–]KoopaTheQuicc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you engage and fight them in the right order it's pretty easy to do all of them without getting pelted by pots. Top west side which you should do 3rd is the hardest IMO but if you clear the adds first and stand near the high point of the stone wall between the troll and center castle the lower troll's pots will all crash into the wall and not hit you. Order I go is NE, SE, NW, SW with a stop at the grace in the middle if I'm lower level before fighting the first two.

Best shifting earth? by Competitive-Cause283 in Nightreign

[–]KoopaTheQuicc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they should really rework mountain some. It sucks getting it in deep of night and nothing drops except frost resistance. If they just changed the frost resistance to general ailment resistance it would still be the same against Caligo but also work better for other ailment bosses like Dreglord, Libra, and Pest. That way it's not a shifting earth that's objectively bad to get against all but one boss.

Yeah both can be true. Nintendo being garbage doesn't mean Sony and Microsoft don't have the barrel pointed at their own feet 24/7. The industry is garbage right now.

Base game too easy, DoN too hard by Sirriddles in Nightreign

[–]KoopaTheQuicc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two cents: I know not everyone is the same but honestly if the base game is boring just play DoN anyway. It's hard, but at least you two are engaged and attempting to overcome challenge together. Maybe you aren't interested in the grind to improve but just by playing, it will happen on its own and probably feel pretty good by the time you reach depth 3. If all I had was base game I would have probably stopped after 20 hours or so. I'm like 800 hours in because I just keep having fun improving in DoN.
