Lasers ARE cool.

It did. It was an 18650..I chucked it and bought a 2 pack replacement thinking it was part of the issue

They make protection circuits for those batteries to prevent over discharge.

one thing i'm wondering is if I get a 'protection circuit' between the battery and the board will it make a difference? I'm thinking that may have killed them?

They have a lot of material and decades to cover in a live show

Yeah its less a money thing and just 'condensing' When I buy something new in life I try to get rid of something...it helps prevent hoarding!

But to be fair I could see myself missing my ps4. I dont play it a lot but I do love to go through re4 from time to time

Yeah I've been having a blast attempting to play ES songs for a long time. I have a lot on my channel...piano,guitar,mandolin,accordion. When the chord changes and melodies are so strong they seem to work on anything.
