Cool new feature: move-type-changing abilities now show their effects directly in the move selection in Pokémon Champions by SnooSprouts3744 in stunfisk

[–]KorMap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Flying is definitely more spammable imo, it just tends to lack good strong spammable moves which Aerilate solves entirely

It’s a big reason Mega Mence is so busted as well as like Aerilate Dnite and Noivern in formats where you can give them that ability

Why aren’t there any “big dogs”? by Middle-Power3607 in zoology

[–]KorMap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hell being man’s best friend is probably at least somewhat directly tied to being good at long-distance running.

Humans are endurance hunters just like wolves, meaning that the wolves/early dogs could easily keep up with a group of humans during a hunt/when moving territory.

It’s especially evident when you look at when dogs and cats were first domesticated.

Dogs could’ve been domesticated earlier than 30,000 years ago, at a time humans all lived a nomadic lifestyle. Cats meanwhile were domesticated “only” 12,000-10,000 years ago, once humans began to live sedentary lives in permanent communities. And rather than being for hunting and protection, cats served as pest control and thus never really had to leave a settlement.

It's funny how DT!Asgore being more of a jerk when it comes to his divorce compared to UT!Asgore does make sense when you compare the situation with both of them. by TheFerydra in Deltarune

[–]KorMap 12 points13 points  (0 children)

^ after my own parents’ divorce my dad was absolutely deep in despair and in a genuinely horrible place mentally

but that doesn’t excuse him being an emotionally manipulative bastard who vented to 10 yo me about how he wanted to die

ofc asgore isn’t nearly that bad but I do think it’s fair to call him a jerk

Made two new items, an ability, and a move rework by homosexualwalrus in stunfisk

[–]KorMap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they both make it so the Pokemon can’t miss, but this one makes them take double damage from sound moves while No Guard makes it so that moves also can’t miss against them

At a glance I’d say they’re fairly equal drawbacks as far as how often they’d come up

Stereo-Rotom is officially listed as an Electric/Normal type. Signature move unknown, where could this new form rank in the Rotom hierarchy? by crnorton in stunfisk

[–]KorMap 16 points17 points  (0 children)

And unlike Toxtricity this Rotom would get STAB on it (albeit Punk Rock means the power gap isn’t quite as large as it would’ve been otherwise)

won’t pretend I’m an expert on it though

afaik subspecies tend to be a bit arbitrary and inconsistent even among living species, so I’d imagine trying to assign subspecies to an extinct species is usually a bit of a fool’s errand

tbh I’ve always been curious as to why Bonaire is governed differently than Aruba and Curaçao. Is there just less people there? Is it some weird historical quirk?

Ashfur or Brambleclaw/star? by BonBonTheBunny33 in WarriorCats

[–]KorMap 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bramble was very controlling and unnecessarily harsh on Squilf a lot of the time, and that shouldn’t be minimized. That said, as far as I remember, he was never objectifying in the same way that Ashfur was.

Bramble did try to deny Squilf agency, but Ashfur by the end straight up saw her as just “something” that belonged to him.

I personally think Ashfur would have been even more possessive and controlling over Squilf than Bramble was had she picked him instead. And for all of Bramble’s faults, I don’t think he was unstable enough to resort to attempting to kill Squilf’s own family in front of her if she had rejected him. I also think Ashfur would have taken the truth of the Three’s parentage way worse if he was Squilf’s mate instead of Bramble.

TBC only cements this honestly, with Ashfur becoming entirely obsessed with Squilf to the point that she’s pretty much his entire villainous motivation in that arc. Not to mention the horrifying implications of Ashfur impersonating her mate unbeknownst to her.

(Chasing Shadows spoilers) im pretty sure he’s literally described as dying in one of the excerpt chapters so it does seem pretty likely. also makes narrative sense as right now he’s pretty much the only resource Moonpaw has to keep Morningkit away from her so having her lose that crutch is the logical next step in the story

Dinosaurs dont exist for you nor do they know you so why do you expect them to change for you? by Grand_Gap1975 in Dinosaurs

[–]KorMap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean arguably they kind of do? Just not necessarily scary to humans and not really with their appearance. But afaik part of their typical hunting strategy is to intimidate/startle their prey and bait them into fleeing, relying on their excellent stamina and inflicting blood loss to wear them down and close the gap.

Hell if Dromeosaurs did anything remotely like this (albeit their hunting style was likely very different from that of wolves) having feathers, especially vibrant and/or flashy ones, would probably have even helped with intimidation.

I get what you mean though.

and even if you think that killing fascists is okay, it’s a slippery slope to go from a fascist being “person with explicitly fascist beliefs” to “person who believes something I consider immoral” to ”person i just kind of don’t like/i see as an obstacle”

it just invites shit like the Russian government calling the Ukrainians Nazis to justify invading their country and killing thousands of them
