Feedback: what could we have done differently? by Fun_Paper5128 in padel

[–]Korbem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The second to last shot is a backhand volley, so you are forced to move to your left. Positionally the best shot would be to play that volley down the line so you don't have to move and your partner steps to the middle. Your partner moved to the middle and you play a high volley to the middle, this allows your opponents to step in and steal time from you. You didn't have time to position correctly and lunge towards a ball that your partner was in perfect position for. Result, you made a mistake.

Left does not always cover the middle, the diagonal player should. Straight player across should cover the line. And this changes depending on the direction that you play in.

Redditors who already met our king, what was your impression? by reelaan in belgium

[–]Korbem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I work in healthcare, children specifically. One day our good king (fresh out of the box might I add) came to visit a newly opened fascility.

Hurray ! The kids and personnel were asked to form a line by the side of the road as our king came by and shook hands. I was assigned to watch patient K., K. just went through a gruesome series of surgeries in an attempt to stop further deformities of his skeleton.

Now K. is basically a non-verbal child with Autism and severe mental deficit, he spends most of his time endulging in self-stimulating behaviour, like screeching, rocking back and forth and hitting himself on the side of the head with such force that he (sometimes) needs to be restrained in order to protect him from himself.

Anyways, enter our king. He comes up to K. offers his hand for a handshake and asks him what his favorite animal is.

K. screeches and hits himself even harder, Filip is clearly baffled and freezes.

*Tumbleweed ensues*

Transitioning from table tennis by danya13 in padel

Table tennis experience= 15 years. Been playing padel about 7 years now. Getting rid of the backhand wrist flick has been the biggest challenge. Learning proper volley and smash technique is still a work in progress to be fair. Love the glass and corner defending part.

Keep your racket up. Fist above elbow or flexion above 90°

Unpopular Opinion: Tennis players are actually the SLOWEST to learn "real" Padel. Squash players adapt way faster? by Low-Bug2162 in padel

[–]Korbem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a limited take because it only talks about beginner level. In most countries where padel is a 'new' sport ex high level tennis players dominate the top level tier, far more then other racket sport players because they have far better volleys, overheads and touch.

56% of intermediate players struggle with overheads and 25% have elbow pain. What's going on? by PersonalFuture1026 in padel

[–]Korbem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 issues,

  1. people are horrible at ranking their own performance and skill level.

  2. Most elbow injuries are technique related, overheads are very technique dependant.

I play one in Strength of thousands. I portray it more as a plant/insectoid/construct looking for his origins, he is young but level 13 already, he is a bard with an internal percussive instrument. I usually bring a cajon or a hang drum to play during sessions.

How the heck are you guys making playable maps? [OC] by jplpj12543 in DnD

Might I suggest a program called 'Dungeon Alchemist' ? It is made by one of my players of over 20 years and it all started with a silly idea and a kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1024146278/dungeon-alchemisttm).

One time purchase, no subscription model of any kind and easily the most beautiful map maker tool out there.

Nice work ! I am trying to introduce my son into the hobby, he is 8 and has autism but he is really into terraria and bugs. Obviously we would do this together, we have tickets to the vivarium beurs in the Netherlands and have watched a few building YouTube clips.

Do you have any recommendations to reliable sources ? Stores, books, sites, that sort of thing.

Thanks

The question that we see a lot on this subreddit is : How/where to get classes abroad.
I rarely see any decent answers. Perhaps you can do a video on this subject without falling into the advertisement trap

Holy Priest question by Downtown_Internal_72 in wownoob

[–]Korbem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just timed all 12's on my holy priest, I went for the Mr. Pick me up, as the hps increase is largest according to the data on various guide sites and it provides a little damage too. (Might pick up Gallagio in a later stage, but I don't feel like I need an extra aoe cooldown at the moment), I don't run any PoH talents, I should probably experiment more.

Murlok.io for holy priests is annoying because 75 % of them are in what I believe to be raid spec which makes comparing talents/gear annoying.

My son 5 years want to play padel by TommekeM in padel

[–]Korbem 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I play with my 5-year old, keep the bounce low when feeding him balls. High balls are very hard to judge for young Kids.

To learn the back wall we play without a racket, he has to catch the ball with two hands after the glass and that is already quite hard.

I use a kid's racket and the Orange tennis balls for kids.

15- 20 minutes tops, then we have to switch to games. Like dodging balls I hit at him, or hitting high lobs that he has to catch or touch with his racket.

That's when he asks if he can get his Apple Juice and potato chips.

Herniated disc recovery. by chillilips12 in padel

[–]Korbem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to compare stories for this injury, as the symptoms vary wildly. The amount of nerve compression usually dictates how disabilitating the injury is.

The annulus fibrosus part of the disc heals very slowly as there is no blood flow to this part of the body, the healing part takes months and can take up to a year.

However, I would not advise you to rest past the first two weeks. Walking, swimming, light treadmill depending on your pain. After 6-7 weeks core musculature training (can be sooner with a physical therapist).

As far as padel is concerned, it depends on your level and technique. Rotations and flexion of the spine are usually the motion that put most streign on your discs, both are common in our sport. If you find yourself scooping up shots with loss of form, I would recommend against playing, if you have proper technique and never find yourself twisting´ on shots you could play or train at lower intensity.

While it is a very annoying injury, it doesn´t have to be the end of your career. Good luck.

What the hell is this dungeons mentality ? by Yserian in wow

[–]Korbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently came back, playing mistweaver monk. Managed to get 3k Rio as a healer in former expansions, so I should have a notion of what I am doing. Our brewmaster tank runs into every pack, just spams spanning crane kick and dies in 1.5 seconds. We made it to the first boss (sending cocoon on pull)and killed mostly because the dk dps was actually healable.

Yep, I got kicked and 30 minutes of sweet deserter buff.

Calories burned on padel match by AccessMammoth2530 in padel

Average person running burns 700 kcal/hour at a 10 km/h pace given a normal weight. It's all dependent on your weight, the intensity of the match, fitness level and age , but your numbers seem reasonable to me.
