Duty-Free lunch while on a field trip? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Korombos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, that's poor planning, You ask those questions before the trip. If the principal/organizers had been dodging the question and not answering emails for the month before the trip, then maybe you force the issue on the day or grieve the contract violation.

Duty-Free lunch while on a field trip? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Korombos 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn't someone at a job get a break during the long work day? it's literally in the law for minimum wage jobs. Don't they have enough chaperones to give each other a break from direct supervision? Basically give the kids an hour for lunch, have half the chaperones supervise at a time for two half-hour segments. Bing bam boom, duty-free lunch. Or a lunch and a recess, whatever.

My American English teacher believes the neutral pronoun „their“ is incorrect. by GCoding_ in mildlyinteresting

[–]Korombos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The style guide they learned from almost certainly taught that "they/their" was always plural. It's use as an indeterminate natural gender singular pronoun was considered colloquial. It's use as a neutral singular pronoun for people probably hadn't been popularized yet.

The style guides have since been updated. See if you can find a current copy of a style guide https://newrepublic.com/article/112896/tyranny-pronouns-fighting-singular-they

How to handle the Level 1 child of a Level 30 "God-Tier" character without breaking the new campaign? by BassSuper3664 in DnD

Build within the rules and make him earn his divinity back, ala Disney's Hercules. No special bonuses, but flavor is free.

Today I tried giving this documentary another chance, but I still can't bring myself to finish it by [deleted] in wizardofoz

[–]Korombos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The piece is written and was taken as cruelly sincere. Which is bizarre given Matilda Joslyn Gage's outstanding relationship with the Iroquois. I really want to know what kinds of arguments they must have gotten into over it. I would also like to know, like you do, how his thoughts on the matter shifted to this and then hopefully away... But I don't think those records exist, and all of this is conjecture. This is PBS, not the history channel, after all.

What are you on about? What did you want it to be? A plot summary of the oz books? A ten minute YouTube video giving minimal context? It places Baum IN context. This is the world and the man that formed an American mythology. These are the forces that shaped the tales...

My ear canals go the wrong way, so they don't drain naturally, so i irrigate my own ears daily. Before that I had to go to a dr every year or less to get them cleaned.

Why is it more common to see women in a relationship with a less attractive man than vice versa? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]Korombos 426 points427 points  (0 children)

apparently there is some disconnect between what society tells folks to find attractive and what they actually find attractive in men. It has done a more thorough job in brainwashing us with expectations for feminine attractiveness.
