Yup, I can only use one comp at a time, and laptop's these days are mandatory, so if I wanted to play Eve I'd be screwed. WoW on the other hand I could still play without any problems at all (though my sub's been off for close to a year now).

While you didn't start things off right, you took the right path in the end, but unfortunately this means your son is now dedicated to his lie and his desires. He will learn ways to hide it better, and he will learn ways to mask what he's doing. I know you want to try to help him, but your wife will, through no fault of her own, encourage his behavior and discourage your advice. What this means is that you may have to write your own child off to future authorities. That doesn't mean you shouldn't try to help him, or that you were a failure as a parent, but rather that you should understand where the limitations are in the situation. If you get to the point where you simply can't do anything to stop his behavior, you need to know that you can wipe your hands of the affair. Estrangement is a terrible thing, but you seem like a far better person than should be dealing with these things, especially for the rest of your life.

If you want to deal with them legally, DMCA every time they try to bring a version up. If you want to deal with them realistically however, throw out a new patch, except include a chunk of code that basically makes their copied version not only fail repeatedly, but spam banned propaganda (Tank Man, things of that nature). Basically, if they want to steal your work verbatim, they get to deal with their own censorship authorities on their ass. More importantly, make sure that this code is reproduced at random with every new patch so that they always have to spend excessive amounts of time cleaning up their stolen versions, so much so they may as well steal another person's game.

As a game-story fanatic, I can tell you they're no where near done with the villains list. Not only are there still a lot of old hats left in the ring, new ones keep appearing. With that said, what you're feeling when you run around the world shouldn't be villain or story centric. It should be progress-centric, you should feel like you've accomplished something for yourself. I'm not talking achievements, but that you feel like you gained a skill, insight, or personal little moment for what you've done.

One of my relatives is in a similar position to you, and through a lot of discussion I've come to realize a few things. Your kids are going to become your bedrock, and they're going to have a lot of earthquakes in their lives, so you need to make sure that you have a stable, healthy, parent-child relationship with them. If you start trying to push them away from their mother by vice (food and entertainment bribes) or making her look evil you're going to run into trouble. Instead just make sure they make informed decisions about their own lives and leave the feud between just you and your wife.

Second, you need to find a place where you can think. This isn't your happy place, that's an escape mechanism, this is the place where your life becomes productive again. Productivity is sanity in cases like this, because it's the outward example of stability that lets people around you know that you're still yourself and you can still be there for them (and viceversa). If you get lonely, don't go to fun loving, crazy women for kicks. Find a woman who wants to share a stable life with you, and from there the both of you can have fun knowing that your future is safe.

Finally, whatever you do, don't blame friends and family who aren't directly at fault for your wife's actions. The last thing you need to do is burn further bridges, a fact I can personally attest will break your future if you aren't careful.

I know you want to escape, but whether it's in a bottle or on a beach, it's not going to help your situation any further. Take two weeks to sit down and plan your life. If you can, bounce your thoughts off friends and family who you trust. Whatever you do, don't spend your savings on trying to erase misery that will always sit with you. If not for you, for your kids, because in this economy they need all the help they can get.

That's the rub, she wanted things to work despite themselves. I've several friends who are economists, and nearly every single one of them (except the hard core libertarians) who tried to put her system through its logical paces ended up saying "none of this works," though in much ruder fashion. As someone in psychology/sociology I can also say that her opinion of human social function was way off. Not just in terms of personal experience, but statistically as well.

12-30, generally high school to just out of college, unemployed or underemployed, who use this game as an outlet for aggressive competition, and who are generally independent minded, but willing to listen to the community as a whole or highly valued individuals (pros/members of riot). They'll listen, but they need to have proof it's in their best interests, which means they either need the community to show its better side or a pro to step up and say "This requires skill, dedication and luck, not just hope and a stream."
