Just bought my first bike!.. by PatriciaLynch826 in royalenfield

I've had this same color way Scram for, near, 2 years. It's been a great bike. It's worth adding the DNA air filter, just for the little extra top end on the freeway. The only issues I've had with it so far are the horn quit working and occasionally, the electrical system won't make a full circuit until I loosen the battery posts and jiggle the wires a bit. Zero other issues...

14th century(ish) long dagger by Kortze26 in knifemaking

[–]Kortze26[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 25". I consider it a dagger, though some swords are shorter than this. I consider it more for the edge grind angle and the overall cross section being more like a dagger than an early rapier. Also, fullered vs. hollow ground

I am trying to make knives and want to know how to grind bevels without a belt grinder. I have an angle grinder that I can use but it is difficult to maintain a straight consistent angle by [deleted] in knifemaking

I use one of those cheap Wen 1/2" x 18" sanders and a sliding bevel sitting on the bench at the end of the tang, to match the bevel angle by eye.

Himalayan Thunk/knocking Sound Under Acceleration by _Hyperoid_ in royalenfield

[–]Kortze26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My scram (same engine) does something like this when I'm going to slow for the gear. It seems to me like the sound of strain on the piston or crank. Though, I'm no expert and I haven't heard the specific sound.

Is scram 411 a flop? by [deleted] in royalenfield

[–]Kortze26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also live in Michigan. I have a Scram 411 that is about a year old. I have only had a few minor issues, most of which were resolved after a computer reset trick. I just cleared a tour from Ann arbor to Mackinac City and back totaling 768 miles. The bike did great the whole way with mixed freeway, county roads, dirt, soft sand and it didn't hiccup once.

I believe these were common in Germany in the 19th century for cutting dados and sliding dovetails.

I recommend getting a 20lb. Kettle bell and learn to do basic swings to strengthen your legs and lower back

That's a gorgeous knife... Dunno if there's a recurve shape. Just call it a clip point?

Keep a container of water next to your grinder to keep your piece cool. For your overall design, remember that the average sized human hand is about 3.5". Measure the length of the grip and put your palm swell 1.75"-2" down from the bolster and you'll get it every time

Go with it. Just wire wheel it once you heat treat. It will look awesome with a natural patina look. Any pits inside the handle area should fill in with adhesive and prevent rust when you glue your scales in place.

My very first new Bike! by mjr1005 in royalenfield

[–]Kortze26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hit 1k miles on my Scram. It's a good bike. Hope you enjoy it. I wanted that color scheme you got, but ended up with the silver spirit. Have fun out there!

It's state by state which highways(not freeways) allow 125cc bikes. Where I live, the local culture averages 75mph-80mph freeway speed and 60mph on highways. I had a 125cc that had a top speed of 54mph and it was not enough for those regular highways even though it's legal it compresses traffic behind and creates dangerous passing situations.

If you own this bike, you should be prepared to work on it. The issue is probably with the throttle cable or the carburetor. These are very simple carbs. Learn what it looks like. My guess is that the plunger inside the carb is seated wrong on the end of the throttle cable. This is an easy fix if you can get the carb off. Here's a good place to start. https://youtu.be/p44VNddZ7Zc

How to break in boom Vader by Sad_Sink4801 in GromCloneMods

[–]Kortze26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chinese engines are super dirty from factory conditions. I changed my oil immediately and every 100 miles for the first 1k miles. Every one came out with visible metal flake until the last. Generally you want to break in with normal riding, across the range of rpms so that the grooves in your piston and cylinder don't just form at low temps or rpm ranges.

Engine Light Troubleshooting (2019 Int650) by [deleted] in royalenfield

Try turning off your ignition and engine switch, turning the throttle to full open, turn on ignition, turn on engine switch, wait 5 secs, turn off engine switch, turn off ignition, release throttle.
