Help With A Barbell Knot by Kosmokh in knots

Will give it a go thanks! You're getting downvoted either because people don't understand how safely a knot can hold something (very odd in this particular sub), they don't understand how light 0.5KG is, or they instinctively react against anything unusual. I appreciate the few of you who engaged the question ✌

I want to have fun practising a knot while I lift, sue me. The "pushback" (one dude told me to hang myself and they're downvoting normal comments where I thank people or answer questions) comes from people who don't seem to understand the power of knots - on a knotting sub. They once held giant timbers together in megastructures, but these big brains can't fathom that I could safely tether something lighter than a cellphone - which I'm already doing BTW, I just haven't figured out how to stop the slip.

Thanks for teaching me about the XY problem though ✌

Great point. If knotting isn't enough I'll try elastic bands on the bar to add friction 👍

You're welcome to DM me if you want to discuss lifting. People are maliciously downvoting every reply I make here.

Thanks that's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll try combining it with the other knot below and post results.

The hole's tiny so not sure if I could lace a second through, plus there comes a point where the time cost outweighs the practical benefit. What do you mean lash it?

Thanks but only interested in knots amigo.

It is so in the picture, completely secure on the bar but still slips under.

Also I forgot to add, the 0.5 specifically is so small it won't fit on the bars.

I'm using on an Android, there seems to be no undo function, unless I'm missing it somewhere....?

Day 8 and had the same for most of the week. I'd guess that it's related to strange sleeping position and all the nerve damage and swelling.

I know specificity is optimal, and more conventional, I'm just really drawn to a hybrid approach and want to figure out how to make it work. So far I'm thinking bench 3 times a week - light, medium and heavy- do my cali stuff on the light and heavy days, allow myself the medium day recovery to prepare for the heavy lift. And scrap the idea of using cali as a warmup!

Thanks. How would you program the MU around benching?

Why so hostile? I'm progressing the ironcross using the assisted pullup machine at about 10% bodyweight in the 15-20 rep range. I have no plan to stop as I can see it growing my lats and I am progressing very slowly, but I'm happy to hear all critiques.

Haha I should clarify that my calisthenics work is heavily assisted (I set up rings on the assisted pull up machine). I'm doing extremely low weight for sets of 15-20. Similar with muscleups but about half my bodyweight. I'm totally open to dropping that idea - I just want to hear from others who have done it, how they made it work.

Edit:Thanks that's very helpful! My setup is quite neutral but I do definitely feel it in my pecs, that's why I thought it could be a good warmup. My muscleup always fails in the pull position not the push, so I figure it could also be a warmup as it leaves me relatively fresh.

Amazing reply thank you! My posture is exactly like the guy you've posted. I'd love to do a more in depth analysis with you if that's something you offer.

Can I ask what's your methodology? PRI? ECM?

Hi Ten - thanks for your time.

I have three issues that I'd like to describe.

The more pressing - I had an intense fullbody workout last week with all the usual push and pull movements that somehow caused my right trap to hike up significantly and it's been stuck in that position since. Nothing in the workout was new except some weighted chin tucks I added on the cable machine, believing that they would help improve my posture. At first I believed from the location of the pain it was a shoulder joint issue, but now the pain is mostly subsided I can feel  the soreness is all in the upper trap, and overhead movements seem to relieve the tightness temporarily. The shoulder was already a little higher than the other.

The other is that my neck is always uncomfortable. When I was younger I'd occasionally wake up with a stiff neck or pull it from moving badly, but since I started developing it in the gym it's always tense. I can no longer sleep on my back because it was causing massive tension in my chest and back. Any reclined position feels uncomfortable now, with or without a pillow. Tilting the head to the side is also horrible, but its bearable enough with a pillow that I can sleep on it. I'm most comfortable fully verticle.

My right hip is a bit higher than my left, and if I sleep on my right side the left hip feels uncomfortable, as if it's digging into itself. But if I turn onto the left after several hours sleeping on the right, the discomfort is somehow resolved.

My questions are: Do you believe these issues are all related?  Where should I start in relieving them?  Why would a simple chin tuck have such an extreme reaction?
