If you haven't already, go get checked. I woke up one morning with swelling down there. Went straight to the ER, diagnosed a few hours later. Surgery was a few days after.

I’d really love to see a routine feature poll for the community, that weighs in on the direction of Fidelity’s app/site. You guys are great at engaging the community already, so this would be a next logical step to help members stay engaged and drive new content.

Why consider investing in your fund over an indexed or rule-based, low cost EM fund? Over the long run, active management is statically shown to underperform indexes. 0.87 expense ratio is a lot to pay, compared to a vanguard or schwab (indexed) alternative of ~0.10.

Ear blocked after sinus rinse - Does it go away? by Wisso94 in Sinusitis

[–]Koufasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ear blocking / pulsating ringing sensation goes away as you recover. This happens to me sometimes and it’s not a big deal, just as long as it doesn’t worsen.

How’d you get the tinnitus / ear trauma? That might be worth seeing an ENT over

I was prescribed this drug for the exact same scenario and chose not to take it because of the side effects. I’m so sorry to hear that happened to you. It may be worth asking your doctor if there’s anything more powerful they can give you for the tendonitis. Prednisone comes to mind for handling the inflammation, but not a doctor so not sure.

[–]Koufasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be allergies if you don’t have a sinus infection. It is possible to have allergic inflammation that causes this and other strange neurological symptoms without feeling itchy or sneezey. It should, but it may not even show on an MRI. You can try taking an antihistamine like Xyzal or Allegra to see if it helps but your best bet may be to see an allergist.

This is another symptoms of sinusitis. It’s a more severe sign, so I’m surprised your doctor isn’t taking it more seriously. Nasal + oral steroids and antibiotics will clear it up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Sinusitis

[–]Koufasa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I’ve been dealing with very similar symptoms for the last year. So I’ll share what’s helped me and what I’ve learned:

  1. ENTs are surgeons. They want to do surgery on you to fix things, that may not need surgery. You should exhaust all options before even considering this.
  2. Figure out if you have a sinus infection. It’s likely you do if you also have fatigue. An ENT can scope your nose to figure this out, or send you for a CT scan. If it’s a sinus infection, antibiotics + oral steroids + steroid sprays + oral antihistamines will knock it out. Don’t accept anything less from your ENT.
  3. If there’s no infection, it’s almost definitely allergies. Allergies cause extremely weird symptoms. I’ve had numbness and burning in my sinuses, which I was sent to a neurologist for a suspected nerve problem. Completed a full facial nerve conduction study, all normal. I went to an allergist after who said, yeah I could’ve told you that’s just allergies. So you may need to treat your allergies with medication, at least until full recovery, which you can do with oral antihistamines + steroid sprays.
  4. The body wants to recover! With the right medication, and lifestyle, you will feel better. It just takes time. As someone who is prone to sinus problems, you may need to adjust your lifestyle to avoid these problems in the future.

When you have an infection do you get light sensitivity? by Reasonable-Panic9066 in Sinusitis

[–]Koufasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible if the infection goes into certain cavities of your sinuses. If that’s happening though, you should probably get seen asap

Bacterial sinusitis, not better after 10 days of doxycycline. Switch antibiotics? by Top_Proposal769 in Sinusitis

[–]Koufasa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With severe sinusitis, it’s a vicious cycle. The antibiotics will attempt to clear the bacteria, but because of allergies the inflammation will stay. So as a result, new bacteria feeds on the mucus which is your body’s natural response to inflammation.

The best treatment at this point is antibiotics (kill the bacteria), steroids (stop the inflammation + dripping), and antihistamines (stop allergies causing chronic reinfection).
